everybody has their levels of what is ok about underage sex..all we are arguing here is the age.
Some people take the age to the extreme.

 

HI guys. Just stopped in for a moment to keep up with friends like HWNN and ran into this thread.

The above post is not quite true. US laws and the US Constitution applies to all companies doing business in the US no matter were they are incorporated. Private companies must obey the laws of the land and observe all constitutionally protected rights. A lesson Denny's leaned not long ago when they tried to discriminate against Afro-American customers. They were successfully sued for millions just for giving less service to Afro-Americans than other groups.

Even when a discriminatory action is not specifically against the law, the discrimination is still actionable. Say for example a rule that prohibits people from walking into a store without wearing shirts and shoes. We've all seen the signs that say "No shoes, no shirts, no service. Certainly a company can make such a prohibition. Indeed they can, as long as they apply the rule equally to all patrons. All a party, that feels discriminated against, has to do is prove that the company's policy is selectively enforced and they have grounds for a case of discrimination.

The basis of all US law is equity under the law. We all have the right to be treated equally and a right to submit a complaint when we are not.

I don't think so. This site is run by a company outside the U.S. This site makes money, indirectly I suspect, from advertisers who may or may not be in the United States. So, are they doing business "in the US"? If so, then the above isn't true because this site and the owners are not governed by U.S. law. How could they be? You think a sovereign country will let the U.S. tell its citizens what it can and can't do over the Internet? Can't see that happening.

 

This is a ridiculous statement! Just as most people take photos for their own pleasure so paedophiles take photos/films essentially for their own gratification. They may decide to trade them afterwards but it is not a prerequisite.
Paedophiles shouldn't automatically be compared to porn artists, wanting their actions spread all over the internet. Paedophiles aren't like the wanabees who appear on reality TV! Why should they be different to any other "sexual deviants"?
As for arguing the rights of child molesters, writing a story about underage sex does not automatically make one a paedophile. It is possible to film/direct/produce a sex film even if one is impotent. Imagination and real action are two different things.
I should imagine that if any of us ever read a story by a true paedophile it would be a million miles away from those everyone is complaining about. The biggest giveaway would probably be an inordinate amount of self-justification, insistance on love, purity, abuse as a child (much like what was bandied about during the Michael Jackson case).

 

The way I see it, freedom of speech does not extend to writing about physical, psychological, and emotional harm being inflicted upon children, or any innocent person or creature for that matter.

 

You may have a point, HWNN. I know that any company that does business in the US must comply with US laws but I don't know how that applies to the Internet. It may be a question of jurisdiction and enforcement. If a company that has a physical presence here violates US laws, we can just shut them down, take them to court or size their assets. But if they have no actual presence in the US, that may be difficult to do. I know China tried to block certain sits from their country but I don't know how that works. Maybe we can ask Claris. She seems to know about that stuff.

You can't read a newspaper and not see some kind of harm reported editorialized or otherwise mentioned. Some papers even go so far as to follow the philosophy that if it bleeds it leads.

Harming innocent people? Harming anyone? well there goes all the books beyond the aforementioned.

Harming people and how they deal with it is what writers call conflict, the harm may not always be physical it maybe emotional. It also allows us to develop things like character flaws which is what makes reading interesting. My suggestion read something beyond a first grade reading level please?

just a quick question for those of you that are arguing... does anyone have a link to an online law book that says "it is expressly illegal to write about (insert act here)"? The problem is here is that there is no law book on earth that says you cannot write a fictional story about having sex with a kid. the act of molesting a kid is wrong. that much is a given.

that said, people... quit your bitching. so what if there is an age limit put on the protagonists of your stories. 1 dont include age. 2 you have freedom of speech, but xnxx is not your country. nor is there anything stopping you from talking to other people about these wrongful acts. you just cant do it publicly where it offends people.


Over all, no one has the right to complain here. popular quote... "Guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people." Stories about kids having sex isnt hurting anyone. Creeps who already want to force themselves on little orphan annie are the ones to blame.
