    Sadly, it languished in the ratings when it came out, and faced cancellation after the first season. Due to the main star's 4 Emmy Awards, the show was re-tooled and brought back for a second season - which totally destroyed what had been achieved in its first year. It got a 3rd season, and was then cancelled after a few eps of a 4th, by which point no one really cared. But that first season is without doubt some of the best, darkest comedy of its time.

    The John Larroquette Show 1993-6​

    A series set in a New Orleans bus station - at night... an angry young black man... and older I-don't-give-a-shit black man... a sassy prostitute... two bent cops... and a recovering alcoholic - everything you need for amazing dark, dark, comedy. How dark, I hear you say? This is a dark ride, man. (Look at my name...) This quote is from the carnival sign that hung on the office of John Hemmingway (played by John Larroquette):

    The series' first season included episodes dealing with "the 12 Steps", as John made his way out of alcoholism. It was brilliant, and if it was aired 10 years later, would have been received much better than it was. (To any Nurse Jackie fans - you can thank John Larroquette for opening the door).

    Sadly, you'll be hard pressed to enjoy this show now. Warner Bros TV who owns the show have NEVER released it for home consumption. Some fans had most of the episodes on YouTube, but Warner Bros went through a while ago and killed most of them off. Check some torrents sites if you're brave and you'll find it there.
