As A Marine my first Duty station after ITS was a small island up in the bearing sea Adak AK. We were on said island guarding a few WMDs we had extensive training on the effects of a nuclear war or what would happen if by chance one of the weapons was to fall into the wrong hands. with any BURST Air, Service, or Sub-service. There will be fallout from any nuclear blast as to how much depends on where the bomb goes off. An air burst does the most damage because of the over pressure from the blast and will produce the least fallout. A sub-service will do the least damage above ground but will produce the most fallout. But to cause nuclear winter no one is sure positive how large a firestorm you would need to start it after all earth is a pretty large ball to have to try to cloud over.
