I am well aware that blacks are more likely to benefit from anti poverty programs than are white people. Nevertheless, a larger number of whites benefit.

I cannot prove this, and invite you to correct me, but I suspect that most whites who receive anti poverty benefits who voted in the last election voted for Donald Trump.

Think of all those unemployed factory and mine workers in declining factory and mine towns, and under employed whites working part time jobs at convenience stores. If it was not for food stamps, housing assistance, and other benefits many of them would be starving in the streets.

Most of these whites live in states what would join the New Confederacy. If the U.S. breaks up into two countries the Federal Government in Washington, DC will not be paying for their benefits any more.

Companies know they have a president they can depend on and are hiring people.

Since the inauguration of Donald Trump the unemployment rate has continued a decline it began under President Obama in November 2009. It is too early to tell if this will continue.

We also need to look at the value of real wages.

With Trump's deregulation of Wall Street I suspect that there will be trouble ahead. Clinton's similar deregulation has been blamed for the Great Recession.

Regulations exist for reasons. They keep businessmen and financiers from being as shady as they would like to be. They protect the environment. They assure safe working environments, and safe consumer products.

 

The Great Recession began during the administration of George the Lesser.

In his book Coming Apart: the State of White America, 1960 - 2010 Charles Murray documents a decline in regular employment for white blue collar workers that began decades before the inauguration of President Obama.

The golden era of America's white working class was the Eisenhower administration. There were a number of reasons for this, including economic reforms taken by the Roosevelt administration two decades earlier. Until then factory and mine jobs required long hours, paid little, and were often dangerous.

To a considerable extent America's white working class never recovered from the recession of 1974. Since 1974 there have been bigger rewards at the top, but there have been fewer rewards. Most factory jobs that have been lost have been lost to robots. They aren't coming back.

 

First thing I'm going to do in the revolution is vote in 2018. Anyone who has mocked the POTUS or has contributed to the radicalization of the left is out of a job. Chuck Schumer of NY comes to mind.
