‘Violence Is On The Table’: MSNBC Analyst Says Trump Weaponizing ‘Cult’ to Raise Specter Of ‘Harm and Death’ for Trial Participants
    By Caleb HoweSep 17th, 2023, 3:40 pm
    186 comments
MSNBC political analyst Fernand Amandi said that the gag order Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith requested be imposed on Donald Trump isn’t just a legal tactic but because of “real danger” to the judge, the jurors, and the attorneys in Trump’s election trial.

On MSNBC’s Ayman, Amandi echoed elements of the near-apocalyptic warning from the network’s Nicolle Wallace about the dangers posed by Trump’s base as he goes to trial in multiple jurisdictions.

“Something really bad is going to happen. Like shit’s about to hit the fan in this country,” said Wallace in her comments on Friday.

ON Saturday, Amandi told host Ayman Mohyeldin that participants in the trial at every level have violence, danger, and even death to fear from Trump’s base.

“it is not just the specter of what Trump is trying to do to shape public opinion, to rally his base, and to potentially influence the jury pool. But it’s the specter not just of violence, but potential harm and death, even, to one of the participants in the trial,” he said. “Remember the MAGA base, as we’ve seen through the actions of January 6 and other incidents before and after, has proven to be a base that responds to the calls of the leader of the personality cult, in this case, Donald Trump.”

He added that “violence is on the table,” and that Judge Tanya Chutkan has to take it into consideration when weighing the gag order, “to the protection of herself and all of the participants, the jurors, the special counsels themselves.”

MOHYELDIN: Prosecutors had secretly argued in April that if Donald Trump learned of their efforts to access his DMs, his direct messages on Twitter, his public disclosure of that development could precipitate violence. It seems like a pretty significant development just because it shows to the extent Jack Smith is worried about what Donald Trump can do on social media, but also what may have been said in those direct messages.

AMANDI: It is indeed a significant development, and I think there is a dimension to the special counsel’s request for the gag order that we haven’t really gotten into in this discussion yet. And it is not just the specter of what Trump is trying to do to shape public opinion, to rally his base, and to potentially influence the jury pool. But it’s the specter not just of violence, but potential harm and death, even, to one of the participants in the trial.

Remember the MAGA base, as we’ve seen through the actions of January 6 and other incidents before and after, has proven to be a base that responds to the calls of the leader of the personality cult, in this case, Donald Trump.

And I don’t think Special Counsel Smith is playing here or playing games or trying to do this as a tactical maneuver. I think there is an element here of real danger, given what we’ve seen has been a weaponized base that Trump has used on occasion in the past and in fact has been charged with some of these federal crimes for.

So I don’t think we can discount the fact that violence is on the table. I think that is really what Judge Chutkan needs to take into consideration. Not just the threat of moving up to trial, which of course would not be to Trump’s legal advantage, but to the protection of herself and all of the participants, the jurors, the special counsels themselves.

Because we have seen Donald Trump stoke and engage people to act in his wishes and interests in violence. And I don’t see what would stop him from doing it again.

Rachel Maddow assails threats of MAGA violence against law enforcement and public officials

    Sarah K. Burris
    September 19, 2023, 3:48 AM ET

The host of “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC (screengrab)

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow assailed Donald Trump's supporters who continue to attempt to overthrow American democracy and election through intimidation.

At the top of her Monday show, Maddow attacked North Carolina for the Republican efforts to take over the election boards to influence the votes. She cited election laws being restricted in Texas, and MAGA attacks on election workers. It's a continuation of what unfolded in 2020 and on Jan. 6.

Maddow explained that radical, right-wing violence has expanded to threats against the National Archives, the FBI, the IRS and elected officials like Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT).

Trump's "overheated public statements have led his followers to commit violence or to threaten violence on his behalf," the host explained.

"I mean, all of these things, the court filing about the potential gag order, the threats to Fulton County officials, the threats to the FBI itself. I mean, these are all just in the past few days," said Maddow. "But these headlines are just now the ambient mood of public service in the Trump era of Republican politics, right? It's Fulton County officials being threatened. It's the Fulton County sheriff having to investigate that. Then it's the Fulton County sheriff being threatened and the FBI having to investigate that. Then it's the FBI being threatened."

She continued: "FBI officials and FBI agents themselves are being threatened and the FBI had to investigate that. It's the judge in one of the Trump cases being threatened. It's another judge and another one of the Trump cases being threatened. It's the grand jurors in one of the Trump cases being threatened. It's the prosecutor in one Trump case being threatened. It's the prosecutor in another Trump case being threatened. It's a federal prosecutor in the Hunter Biden investigation getting, 'Such a barrage of credible threats that she had to seek security help from the U.S. Marshals Service.' It's public health workers being threatened and harassed. It's the head of the CDC getting death threats. The head of the CDC!"

In a new biography about Romney, the Utah Republican confesses that a number of his GOP colleagues were willing to vote to convict Trump of impeachment, but they were too scared of what might happen to themselves or their families.

"If public life, public service, and even just regular citizen participation in regular politics is suffocated with threats of violence now, one of the things that for sure does is it forces regular people out of politics and out of public service," she said. "It is common sense, if politics and public service are being made into something that is quite literally dangerous, then in the normal course of events, normal people will steer clear. Right?"

U.S. Army reservist with KKK ties faces military review after Raw Story report

The U.S. Army is conducting a formal review of a reservist who conducted a “white nationalist” paramilitary training in North Carolina earlier this year and has boasted of Ku Klux Klan ties.

Christopher Woodall, a 34-year-old member of the U.S. Army’s Individual Ready Reserve, has a long history of involvement in the KKK and other white supremacist groups.

Woodall recruited “like-minded folks” to attend paramilitary-style trainings to learn about firearms, tactical movement and survivalism in preparation for “SHTF,” an acronym that references a widespread societal breakdown.

Woodall’s white supremacist activity, as well as his support for Russia, were first reported by Raw Story in August.

“The Army takes all allegations of extremism seriously,” Heather J. Hagan, an Army spokesperson, told Raw Story in an email.

Hagan said the information uncovered by Raw Story about Woodall has been referred to Army’s human resources command, which manages the Individual Ready Reserve.

Hagan declined to comment further on what action the Army might take as a result of the review.

RELATED ARTICLE: U.S. Army reservist ran a ‘white nationalist’ training camp and touted KKK ties

Woodall’s activities were documented in internal social media chats reviewed by Raw Story and subsequently confirmed by Woodall himself.

Raw Story’s investigation uncovered a specific chat on the messaging app Telegram in which Woodall bragged about “running a state for the KKK,” and referenced past involvement with the neo-Nazi group National Socialist Movement.

The chat initially served as a communications hub for a chapter of the far-right group American Guard. At least one member of the chapter held a dual membership with the Proud Boys.

Woodall used the acronym “WPWW,” which stands for “white power worldwide,” in his TikTok bio, and made a post with the inscription “RaHoWa,” short for “racial holy war.” (He told Raw Story his use of the phrase was “satire.”)

The paramilitary group for which Woodall recruited conducted at least one training outside of Reidsville, N.C., a small city near the Virginia state line, in January 2023, during a period when Woodall was serving in the North Carolina Army National Guard.

When Woodall separated from the National Guard in April, he went into the Individual Ready Reserve, the North Carolina National Guard told Raw Story.

ALSO READ: GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna deletes social media posts featuring Russian fighter jets

Members of the Individual Ready Reserve may be mobilized during times of national crisis to replace soldiers in active-duty or other reserve units. This was the case during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars and, more recently, when then-President Donald Trump activated members to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After Woodall’s interest in his white nationalist training group appeared to flag midway through this year, he joined a Telegram chat for a neo-Nazi group in western North Carolina that claims to be dedicated to “forging strong men worthy of our nation” while announcing that “the harvest season is here.” The group’s founding statement is explicitly framed around antisemitic hate, fulminating against “the destruction wrought upon our culture, our nation, and our soil by these wicked Jews who have scorched the earth we walk upon.”

Woodall inquired about joining the neo-Nazi group when it was founded in July.

“Get vetted,” one of the administrators for the Telegram channel advised Woodall. “Then show up and get beat up and that’s it.”

The administrator added that they would probably vet Woodall in a couple days through a private online chat. It is unclear whether that actually happened.

    ‘Extremist activities’
Under Department of Defense Instruction 1325.06, a Pentagon policy for “Handling Protest, Extremist, and Criminal Gang Activities Among Members of the Armed Forces,” military personnel are prohibited from “actively participating in extremist activities.”

Under the policy, “extremist activities” includes “advocating or engaging in unlawful force or violence to achieve goals that are political, religious, discriminatory, or ideological in nature” and “advocating widespread unlawful discrimination based on race, color, national origin religion, sex (including pregnancy), gender identity, or sexual orientation.”

The Department of Defense defines “active participation,” among other things, as “advocating or engaging in the use or threat of unlawful force or violence in support of extremist activities,” “recruiting or training others to engage in extremist activities,” and “creating, organizing, or taking a leadership role in a group or organization that engages in or advocates for extremist activities, with knowledge of those activities.”

The policy cites three reasons for prohibiting extremist activity among military personnel.

“First, such active participation undermines morale and reduces combat readiness,” the policy reads. “Second, it calls into question the individual’s ability to follow orders from, or effectively lead with, persons of diverse backgrounds, preventing maximum utilization and development of the department’s most valuable asset: its people. Finally, such behavior damages the nation’s trust and confidence in the department as an institution and the military as a professional fighting force.”

Woodall could not be reached for comment for this story, but in March 2023, he told members of his Telegram chat that he objects to the military’s commitment to gender inclusion.

“I joined to be a heroic defender I saw myself as and test my manhood in combat,” he wrote. Woodall added: “Not to say it wasn’t a challenge to make it in, or that there weren’t some good times that I’ll miss, but the overshadowing bureaucracy, favoritism, woke feminism, gender neutrality, and just general soft nature of it all is unbearable by now.”

Woodall has used his social media to make statements in support of the Russian military campaign in Ukraine, both while serving as a member of the National Guard and continuing as a reservist.

Heidi Beirich, co-founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, told Raw Story that Woodall’s case appears to be fairly straightforward.

“Clearly, Woodall should be separated from the military’s Individual Ready Reserve,” she said. “He’s a white nationalist and exactly the kind of person who should be ousted from the armed services under their rules about extremist behavior. Having people like Woodall in any capacity related to the armed services is a danger to the American people.”

    Delayed military response
Initially, when Raw Story inquired in early August about whether the revelations about Woodall’s white supremacist activities would prompt an official investigation, a spokesperson indicated that the information would be reported to the proper authorities in the North Carolina National Guard.

During the same time period, the Army referred an inquiry from Raw Story to the National Guard.

Then, after nearly a month of emails and phone calls, the North Carolina National Guard told Raw Story that officials had determined that the Guard “does not hold any administrative control or oversight for service members” in Woodall’s status.

The U.S. military has long struggled with extremism in the ranks.

According to an official report released in December 2021, the Department of Defense has maintained a policy prohibiting extremist activities since 1969.

According to the same report, the theft of weapons by the White Patriot Party — a KKK-affiliated, North Carolina-based paramilitary group that stole anti-tank rockets from the military while seeking to establish a “White Homeland” — prompted further updates to the policy in 1986.

Following the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered a one-day stand-down directing commanding officers to discuss extremism in the ranks with their personnel. Soon after, Austin called for immediate action to address the problem and formed a working group that issued a report at the end of 2021.

The report included at least 20 recommended steps, but according to a USA Today investigation, only two appeared to have been completed by the middle of 2023.

Milley says he will take ‘appropriate measures’ to ensure safety following Trump comments
by Tara Suter - 09/27/23 8:35 PM ET

In an interview on “60 Minutes” on Wednesday, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Mark Milley said he will take “appropriate measures” to make sure he and his family are safe in the wake of recent comments made by former President Trump.

Milley’s words come after a Truth Social post by Trump last week calling the chairman a “Woke train wreck” and accusing him of treason, seeming to reference calls made by Milley to China for reassurance at the end of Trump’s term.

“This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH!” Trump’s post read. “A war between China and the United States could have been the result of this treasonous act. To be continued!!!”

“I’ve got adequate safety precautions,” the military leader said in response to a question about his concern about his safety from CBS’s Norah O’Donnell.

Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper expressed his concerns Monday about retaliation by the former president against people whom he has had strife with — such as Milley — if he returns to office, calling them “legitimate.”

“Look, I think it’s a legitimate fear,” Esper told CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins. “If you recall from my memoir … I cite a circumstance where [Trump], egged on by his close advisers, wanted to call back to active duty Adm. McRaven and Gen. McChrystal, to court-martial them, for some things that they allegedly said in in the public domain, and Milley and I had to talk the president out of doing that, for any number of reasons.”

“The president has also said that a second term would be about retribution, right? So, I think these are all legitimate concerns,” he later added.

'An evil smile': Trump supporter charged with attempted murder

A Trump supporter who shot an activist at a prayer vigil in Española yesterday has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault, according to court documents.

Video shows Ryan Martinez, 23, was chased out of the prayer vigil at the site of a proposed statue of racist war criminal Juan de Oñate. After escaping over a short wall, Martinez turned around and drew a pistol, firing one shot before fleeing the scene.

The shot hit 42-year-old Jacob Johns (Hopi and Akimel O’odham), according to an affidavit for an arrest warrant for Martinez. A Gofundme page for Johns’ medical bills shared by organizers of the prayer vigil said Johns “dedicated his life to Indigenous and climate justice [and] is a skilled muralist and speaker, and specializes in non-violent, peaceful ‘artivism.’”

Martinez is the third Trump supporter in New Mexico to be charged with a politically-motivated shooting in as many years, following a 2020 shooting at an Oñate statue in Albuquerque (charges related to the shooting were dropped in that case) and a series of shootings at Democrat officials’ homes allegedly carried out by failed Republican candidate Solomon Peña.

Threats against Democrats in New Mexico, some encouraged by Republican elected officials, have proliferated in recent weeks following governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s controversial emergency order banning public carrying of firearms in Bernalillo County.

    Shooter “had an evil smile”
The affidavit describes the shooting and subsequent arrest and interview of Martinez. According to a witness interviewed by New Mexico State Police, Martinez and a group of protesters in support of the statue arrived at the prayer vigil Thursday morning and began agitating the peaceful prayer group.

Martinez, wearing a Make America Great Again hat, was “walking around and trying to provoke negative reactions with various people,” according to the witness. The witness told state police she “noticed something out of the ordinary about Ryan” and had children present at the vigil congregate around a shrine that had been set up outside the county building where the statue’s installation was planned.

According to the witness, Martinez tried to reach the area where the children were gathered, but a group of peacekeepers blocked his way. After hopping the small wall surrounding the plaza, Martinez shot Johns and then pointed his gun at the witness, the affidavit says. The witness said Martinez “had an evil smile.”

Another witness interviewed by state police said Martinez and other men in MAGA hats were “walking around and acting as if they wanted to start something,” according to the affidavit. That witness said Martinez was “making racist comments to children” prior to the shooting.

“I showed Ryan the photo and he chuckled”
Martinez fled the scene in a white Tesla and was pursued by an attendee of the prayer vigil before police pulled him over, according to the affidavit. He was taken to the Española Police Department interview room, where he was questioned by state police.

A state police officer who interviewed him said in the affidavit that Martinez had “a smirk on his face” and “asked if someone who attempted a murder would be allowed to walk out.” The officer informed Martinez the decision would be made by a judge, and Martinez replied that was “crazy and stupid.” The officer then showed Martinez a photo of himself wearing the same clothes and pointing the gun at the prayer vigil. “I showed Ryan the photo and he chuckled,” the officer wrote in the affidavit.

Videos reviewed by the officer and described in the affidavit seem to be consistent with witness statements, and the officer described watching a video that shows Martinez “attempting to rush the shrine and being stopped by a group of men.”

“As Ryan [retreated] back over the short wall a man can be heard saying let him go. The group of men do not try to pursue Ryan, and Ryan pulled his hand gun from his waist band and shoots,” the affidavit says. “Ryan then drops the angle he is pointing, raises it again and points his handgun once more.”

Martinez was charged with attempted murder for shooting Johns and aggravated assault for pointing his gun at the witness, court records show.

Martinez appeared in court Friday morning, but did not enter a plea, according to court records. He has requested a public defender to represent him, telling the court he cannot hire an attorney himself, records show. Martinez does not have any prior misdemeanor or felony convictions, and the court’s pretrial services has recommended he be released without cash bail, court records show.

Shooter embraced conspiracy theories on social media
Source NM reviewed Martinez’s Facebook page and found that he embraced pro-Trump conspiracy theories, declaring “TRUMP WON” in his bio on the social-media site. Martinez also endorsed a conspiracy theory that Republican Blake Masters beat Democrat Mark Kelly in Arizona’s Senate race, and uploaded a photo of himself wearing a MAGA hat and standing in front of a Gadsden flag, a symbol that has been embraced by the far right in recent years.

In 2021, Martinez uploaded a photo of himself standing next to a white Mercedes-Benz with a handgun tucked into his waistband.

In the days leading up to the shooting, he posted two articles about the plan to place the Oñate statue in Española. The statue was removed in 2020 during national controversy over racist monuments in the wake of the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police.

Martinez follows several right-wing and conspiracy pages on Facebook, including the page for MyPillow, the company founded by election-denying conspiracy theorist Mike Lindell. He also follows failed Secretary of State candidate Audrey Trujillo, a major proponent in the state of the false claim that Trump won the 2020 election.

Immediately after the shooting, Trujillo raised doubts about the incident, writing “Why was this guy from Washington here at the protest? What were they protesting? Didn’t they cancel this? So many questions!”

Martinez is due back in court Monday for a bond hearing.

And as always, when it's a wrong story copy N paste and Stumbler posting it, there's more to the story.

The issue is and has been a statue of a Spanish Conquistador, Juan de Oñate, who is a hero to many Hispanics and a mass murderer to many indigenous Americans. The debate over the Onate statue has been ongoing for decades, and was reignited during the Floyd mass demonstrations that swept the nation. The statue has been vandalized and was removed for a time. The issue most recently was that the statue was going to be displayed at a new location, and a protest was staged to stop that.

This is the scenario when Martinez showed up. The video below shows the end of the protest, with Martinez being pursued and attacked by indigenous protesters. His firing of a shot into the crowd probably wasn't justified, although he will certainly claim self defense, but it is certainly not the case that he or anyone else went to the protest looking for a fight, as wrong story and stumbler are trying to tell us.

That Martinez wore a MAGA hat and supported Trump doesn't appear to have been a factor in the protest or his attendance at the protest. Classic despicable tactic though.

He just went to the protest with a gun because that's what people do when they are not expecting a fight.

Knew someone would be jumping in with some such stuff.

The point was to show how stumbler never tells the whole story. Shooter is not in any way defending Martinez or what happened. Just pointing out there's more, a lot more, to the story than a trump supporter shooting up innocent people.

You can see that can't you, bron?

Or do you care that stumbler is here just to push his liberal propaganda?

John Bolton: It's 'entirely possible' Trump wants his supporters to kill Mark Milley

    Matthew Chapman

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton warned CNN's Jake Tapper on Monday that former President Donald Trump may actually want one of his followers to take matters into their own hands and mete out vigilante justice against former Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley, whom he recently accused of treason and suggested should be executed.

This comes as former Trump's one-time Chief of Staff John Kelly goes public to confirm various accounts of Trump's attacks on servicemembers and war heroes.

"John Kelly also says that Trump is, quote, 'a person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about, a person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served this country for 40 years in peacetime and war' — this is a reference to General Milley — 'should lose his life for treason in expectation that someone will take action, a person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators, has nothing but contempt for democratic institutions, our constitution and rule of law,'" said anchor Jake Tapper.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

"I know you agree with some of that, in your book 'The Room Where It Happened,'" said Tapper. "It's interesting that Kelly put in there that he thinks Trump accusing Milley of treason was done in order to encourage someone to act on that."

"Well, look, it's entirely possible," said Bolton. "Trump uses the word 'treason' quite a bit. He called me a traitor, others in his administration, Mike Pompeo called me a traitor for writing a book. That's the way they do things. And it's entirely possible that's what Trump wants to see."

"I think the central point of what John Kelly said in that particular quotation goes to really the essence of Donald Trump," Bolton continued. "The only thing he cares about is Donald Trump. Everything else is instrumental."

'Inexcusable': Mike Pence condemns Trump's statements after being pressed by CNN host

Former Vice President Mike Pence condemned former President Donald Trump over his comments calling for former Joint Chiefs Chair Mark Milley to be put to death, in an interview on CNN with Kaitlan Collins Friday.

However, Pence, who is running against Trump for president in 2024, stopped short of answering many of Collins' more pressing questions about Trump's fitness for office.

"I'll just say clearly — vice president, clearly Trump thought he was referring to him because he responded to that after, calling General Milley a moron," said Collins. "He added that the man he picked to be Defense Secretary, Mark Esper, called him a, quote, 'woke fool.' Obviously this is after what you referenced there. Trump implied that General Milley should be executed for treason. Are those comments beyond the pale, in your view?"

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

"As I said, his earlier comments regarding General Milley were inexcusable and really have no place in the public debate," said Pence. "But I think it's one of the reasons why, despite what some of the national polls may show, I think Republican primary voters know that we need new leadership, not just in the White House, but in the Republican Party. And that's why I'll be back in Iowa first thing in the morning, and we're going to continue to take our case of a commitment of that broad-based conservative agenda that's defined our movement for years. But also, you know, I was inspired by Ronald Reagan to become a Republican and it was his conservative agenda, it was his optimism, and it was his civility, I think, that made it possible for him to lead an administration that revived the country."

"You talk about civility at length and you said, you think Republican voters know. Do they?" asked Collins. "Right now, Trump is running away with the race. Lately he has called for the parent company of a news network to be investigated for treason. He's vowing retribution if he wins. He's saying he will go after and target his political opponents. With comments like that, do you believe that he is a threat if he returns to the Oval Office?"

"Look, I — you know, I spent four years trying to explain Donald Trump's words, and I'm out of that business now, Kaitlan," said Pence.

Trump supporters cheer execution threats against Milley: 'Why was he not before a firing squad?'

Donald Trump suggested that Gen. Mark Milley deserved execution for "treason," and the former president's fans heard his message loud and clear.

The ex-president – currently the GOP frontrunner – claimed last month the recently retired chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff would have faced death "in times gone by" for reassuring a Chinese general there were no plans to attack during the chaotic last days of Trump's administration, and supporters outside an Iowa campaign rally told NBC News they agreed.

“Treason is treason," said Trump supporter Vicky Entseminger. "There’s only one cure for treason: being put to death.”

Cynthia Yockey, a Trump supporter at his event in Ottumwa, told the network she was disappointed that Milley hadn't already been executed.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

“Why was he not in there before a firing squad within a month?” Yockey said.

Some of the former president's fans thought his comments about Milley were inappropriate, but that hadn't shaken their support.

“It’s way too far, it’s way too far,” said Barbara Hadener, who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 and still plans to back him next year.

But most of the supporters who agreed to speak on camera agreed with Trump's comments about his former top military adviser.

“We used to execute or imprison people for all the treasonous actions I see,” said Rob Dannels, a registered Republican from Oskaloosa. “Now, in this day and age, it’s just throw it underneath the rug."

An unnamed man illegally brought a handgun to the Wisconsin Capitol and requested to see Gov. Tony Evers (D), an act that got him arrested. The same man bailed himself out and returned to the Capitol with a rifle the same night.

Both armed visits took place on Wednesday around 2:00 PM local time, according to Scott Bauer of the Associated Press. Wisconsin’s Department of Administration spokesperson Tatyana Warrick told the press that the man, who was not identified, showed up at the Capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin “shirtless and had a holstered handgun,” and “demand[ed] to see the governor.” Evers was not in the building at that time.

The man was arrested for illegally bringing a gun into the Capitol without a concealed carry permit. After being booked, he posted bail and returned to the Capitol at about 9:00 PM, after the building was closed, this time carrying an assault-style rifle and again demanding to see Evers. The suspect was taken into protective custody and then the hospital.

A spokesperson for Evers had no comment, but it’s not uncommon for officials to decline comment on security issues.

Evers was on another gunman’s hit list back in 2022; Douglas K. Uhde, who shot retired Juneau County Circuit Judge John Roemer in Wisconsin before turning the gun on himself, had targeted several public officials including Evers, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D).

I do not condone violence, but IF any violent action is taken against ANY person connected with Trump's multiple trials (DOJ officials, judges, witnesses, jury members), Trump should immediately be charged with conspiracy in the action. If it results in murder, Trump should be charged as an accessory before-the-fact. If he does not shut his mouth soon, he will end up finding himself in rags in a maximum security prison getting his ass tapped daily for the rest of his life.

    Quick (rhetorical) question.
If the name of that dumbass who showed up looking for Evers hasn't been revealed how do we know he's somehow connected with the despicable party?

I think they're considering him a deplorable because he not only showed up with a handgun without a CCL, does that mean if he had a CCL he would not have been arrested, he also owned a so called assault style rifle, you know those black rifles with a scopes on it.....
I know and shoot with a bunch of despicables that also have the same types of weapons so he could be one of them.....

'Elections don't work': Fox News host suggests America might have to have another civil war

Fox News commentator Greg Gutfeld suggested on Thursday that America might have no choice but to have another civil war, The Daily Beast reported.

"Gutfeld, whose rhetoric has grown angrier and more extreme in recent years, declared during Thursday’s broadcast of Fox News’ The Five that American democracy was no longer feasible. Instead, because crime has supposedly spun out of control — despite homicide rates falling this year and crime just a fraction of what it was 30 years ago — he suggested a radically violent solution," reported Justin Baragona.

The segment was discussing how some people charged with looting in Philadelphia were let go with only minor punishment, which Gutfeld called a "criminal mulligan" and tried to claim it was a completely different standard than what the January 6 rioters got — despite the fact that those circumstances were entirely different and that in fact many of the January 6 rioters were given light sentences.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

“Criminals get a mulligan, they can steal up to $900 worth of stuff, they can loiter, sleep, and shoot up in public areas, including playgrounds, they can loot and burn and call it social justice,” said Gutfeld. “They can pile up dozens of arrests and never do time. Meanwhile, what about us? Well, we have to change our lives to accommodate risk wherever we go. We have to move out of cities for the sake of the safety of our families and our own safety. That’s what’s happening.”

He went on to say that, "I return to my imperfect analogy from yesterday. We had a war over slavery. We knew slavery was inhumane and immoral, but somehow we couldn’t solve slavery peacefully." He added that "It leaves you with ‘you need to make war to bring peace’ because you have a side that cannot change. Because then that means the admission that their beliefs have been corrupt all the time. So in a way, you have to force them to surrender." When one of his co-hosts pointed out we can resolve our differences through an election, he shot back, “No, elections don’t work. We know that. We know they don’t work!”

Gutfeld, known as one of the more joke-cracking hosts at Fox, has come under fire for controversial statements several times in the past; in June, he suggested, half-jokingly, that conspiracy theorist presidential candidate RFK Jr. is right that there are "substances in the water" that turn men gender-nonbinary. In July, he was condemned by the Auschwitz Memorial for claiming that some Jews had survived the Holocaust by being "useful."
