Shannon Brandt in court for allegedly killing teen in 'political argument' (nypost.com)

The North Dakota man who has been accused of mowing down a teenager over a “political argument” pleaded with the judge not to hold him on bail, saying he does not want to lose his job, house or family because of the high amount.

Shannon Brandt, 41, was released on $50,000 bond Tuesday after being charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident in connection with the death of 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson.

During a court hearing on Monday, Brandt said he did not understand the charges against him — and objected to the bail amount, saying that he was not a flight risk.

“I have a job, a life and a house and things that I don’t exactly want to see go by the wayside — family that are very important to me,” he said, according to Fox News Digital.

First responders who arrived on the scene in an alley near Johnson Street and Jones Avenue in McHenry found Ellingson, who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Responding deputies then tracked Brandt to his home in Glenfield, located about 12 minutes away from the crash site.

The 41-year-old allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol before hitting Ellingson and initially leaving the scene of the crash.

Brandt said he later returned to call 911 but took off again before cops arrived.

A breathalyzer test determined that Brandt’s blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit of 0.08.

According to court documents, Ellingson called his mother before he was hit, asking her if she knew who Brandt was. She said yes and told her son she was on the way to pick him up.

A short time later, Ellingson called his mother again to say that “he” or “they” were chasing him. That was the last time she heard from the 18-year-old.

A family friend who started a GoFundMe campaign to help Ellingson’s parents, Sheri and Cole Ellingson, with his funeral expenses, described the 18-year-old as a “wonderful young man” who had “his whole adult life ahead of himself.”

“So much stripped away from himself and from his family,” Nicole Clifton Geiszler wrote in an update. “They now have to endure a path no parent wants, no parent should have to endure. His innocent life he had yet to look forward to and live for. His parents will never see their young son graduate college, get married or have grandchildren.”

Brandt is currently out on bail. He has not yet entered a plea and is due back in court on Oct. 11.

Brandt was arrested on Sunday morning after he called 911 to report that he had struck a pedestrian who he claimed was threatening him.

Brandt stated that the pedestrian “called some people and Brandt was afraid they were coming to get him,” a probable-cause affidavit sated. “Brandt admitted to State Radio that he hit the pedestrian and that the pedestrian was part of a Republican extremist group.”

Trump Supporter Busted For Blowing Up Own Camper Van, Claiming It Was Politically Motivated

A man in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, claimed a blaze outside his own home was started because of his support for former President Donald Trump.

But, it’s now emerged, he set the fire himself.

In September 2020, Denis Molla alleged his camper van was torched and graffiti saying “Biden 2020” and “BLM” was spray-painted on his garage door because of the Trump 2020 flags he had on display.

The day after the inferno, Molla appeared on local television in an emotional interview in which he recalled seeing three people running away from his home before the vehicle exploded ― and that in the immediate aftermath he’d just been focused on getting his two children, ages 2 years and 5 months, and their puppies safely off the property.

    Watch the video here:

On Tuesday, Molla pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of wire fraud after “filing fraudulent insurance claims for a staged arson,” according to a statement from the Department of Justice.

“In reality, Molla started his own property on fire and spray painted the graffiti on his own garage,” it said.

Molla received about $61,000 in insurance payouts and $17,000 in donations via a GoFundMe crowdfunding page, per the report. His sentencing date has not yet been set.

The Democrats have enough evidence to have Trump arrested and tried for his crimes. They are afraid that if they do there will be right wing revolts and Timothy McVeigh kinds of acts of terrorism.

Prisoner Accused of Mailing White Powder to Biden, Bennie Thompson, Federal Judge

A federal grand jury indicted Robert Maverick Vargo on Wednesday for threatening to kill several high-ranking politicians and their families, including President Joe Biden, a unidentified federal judge, and Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson, the chairman of the Jan. 6 committee. “Im going to kill you! I will make you feel the rest of our pain & suffering,” Vargo allegedly wrote from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in Wilkes-Barre. “There is nowhere or nobody who can keep you from me. I am going to kill you & those you love. I promise you that I will keep my promise until the day of my death.” The letter also alluded to anthrax and included a white powder in the envelope, according to the Department of Justice, though the powder turned out not to be the lethal substance. Vargo was in custody for a burglary but escaped the minimal offenders unit of a Pennsylvania prison in July while on work detail. He was recaptured days later. The 25-year-old now faces a maximum sentence of 25 years.

During an event for the right-wing “ReAwaken America Tour" in Manheim, Pennsylvania, a speaker warned the audience that Bible prophecy about the end of the world is right around the corner.

Bo Polny, a financial analyst who bases his advice on biblical principles, spoke to the audience about fluctuating stock prices for precious metals and then gave them an ominous warning.

"We are heading into the Third Seal -- we are about to witness the Third Seal of Revelations, the financial rebalancing," Polny said.

"The Angel of Death is coming to visit these people, these people are going down," he continued. "These people that control the word think that they are pharaohs -- the present-day pharaohs you shall never see again."

IN OTHER NEWS: Mike Pence has embarked upon a sad and delusional quest

Behind Polny, an image showed the purported victims of the "Angel of Death," which included President Joe Biden and several other Democratic politicians, along with Supreme Court chief justice John Roberts.

Later in his speech, Polny declared, "When the lights come on, worldwide celebrations are coming. We are gonna see the return this year -- 45 comes back! Not by his will, but by God's will!"

Polny remarks were first noted by HuffPost reporter Christopher MathiasChristopher Mathias, who is attending the event.

Crowd Cheers and Laughs When Trump Threatens Journalists With Prison Rape

During his administration, former President Donald Trump referred 334 classified leaks for criminal investigation, setting a record. And at his rally Saturday night, he said that the journalists who published the Supreme Court’s preliminary decision to overturn Roe v. Wade would reveal their sources under threat of rape in prison. And the crowd loved it.

“You know in this country they leak all over the place even on the Supreme Court,” Trump said. “By the way, you have to find the leaker of the Supreme Court. You have to find the leaker. You know how you find the leaker?”

Trump then launched into his grand plan for uncovering the identity of the source who shared with Politico an initial draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito where he argued that “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.”

“You take the writer and/or the publisher of the paper, a certain paper that you know, and you say, ‘Who is the leaker?’ National security,” Trump said at the rally. “And they say, ‘We’re not gonna tell you.’ Then [you] say, ‘That’s OK. You’re going to jail.’ And when this person realizes that he is going to be the bride of another prisoner very shortly, he will say, ‘I’d very much like to tell you exactly who that leaker [is]. It was Bill Jones, I swear, he’s the leaker.’ And we got him. But they don’t want to do that.”

    More from Rolling Stone

Trump then launched into his grand plan for uncovering the identity of the source who shared with Politico an initial draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito where he argued that “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.”

“You take the writer and/or the publisher of the paper, a certain paper that you know, and you say, ‘Who is the leaker?’ National security,” Trump said at the rally. “And they say, ‘We’re not gonna tell you.’ Then [you] say, ‘That’s OK. When Trump mentioned a journalist becoming “the bride of another prisoner,” the crowd broke into laughter and applause, cheering Trump’s threat of sexual violence.

At the time of the Roe leak this past spring, many Republicans referred to it as an “insurrection,” an attempt to minimize the actual insurrection that took place at Trump’s encouragement on Jan. 6. The Supreme Court announced it launched an investigation into the identity of the source, but it has been 24 weeks since then, and the court has not offered an official update on its progress.

Three militia members guilty in plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

Three men were convicted on multiple felony charges in the plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

A Jackson County jury found Joseph Morrison, Pete Musico and Paul Bellar guilty Wednesday morning on all charges following a three-week trial, and the men could face more than 20 years in prison when they're sentenced Dec. 15, reported MLive.

Morrison, Musico and Bellar were among 14 men arrested in October 2020 on state and federal charges related to the plot to kidnap Whitmer at her summer home in Elk Rapids, try her for treason over her coronavirus mandates, and then execute her.

Their defense attorneys argued the three Wolverine Watchmen militia members only took part in organized weapons training and offered logistical aid for the kidnap plot, much of which was carried out on property owned by Morrison, but prosecutors told the jury they were charged with providing support to terrorists, and not engaging in acts of terrorism themselves.

Adam Fox, who was identified by the FBI as the ringleader of the plot, was convicted Aug. 23 with his "national contact" Barry Croft on charges of conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction.

The three militants were convicted of providing materials to support terrorist acts and attempt to commit felony as an associate or member of gang, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and felony firearms violations carrying a mandatory sentence of two years in prison to be served consecutively to any other term.

Far-right extremists plotting to attack the energy sector as gas prices finally start to drop: report

    Matthew Chapman
    October 27, 2022

After months of pain at the pump, including a price spike in early October as oil refineries closed for maintenance in key parts of the country, Americans are finally beginning to see some relief as gas prices begin to come down.

But according to Newsweek, as all of this is happening, far-right extremists and domestic terrorists are plotting small scale attacks on the energy sector all over the country — and some have already acted.

"Newsweek has obtained two documents that offer an insight into the scope of the threat, including reports of several actual attacks that have happened in past few months," reported Tom O'Connor and Naveed Jamali. "The first is a corporate intelligence security memo detailing at least 15 instances over the course of just over a year showing suspected extremists openly threatening and calling for acts of sabotage against energy sites, especially electricity substations, but also including other targets such as cell towers and pipelines."

"The material included documents that could serve to help groups and individuals in carrying out such attacks, including maps, manuals and instructions on the vulnerabilities of electricity infrastructure and readily accessible methods to disrupt their operation," said the report. "Those behind the posts, which were shared across various online platforms and chat rooms, expressed ties to a number of anti-government ideologies, mostly far-right and neo-Nazi beliefs, but also including eco-militancy and at least one user who shared messaging supportive of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS)."

According to the report, some of these attacks include sabotage at an electrical transformer servicing the Keystone Pipeline in South Dakota, a shooting at a Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) facility in California that triggered a chemical spill; and another shooting at a transformer in southern Oklahoma that caused an oil spill and a blackout that cut power to thousands of people.

Gas prices have been a significant focus of political energy in the midterm campaign. Republicans have been attempting to blame the surge in fuel costs on President Joe Biden's supposed animosity to oil drilling, even though oil production has risen since Biden took office and oil companies themselves have been slow to participate in the administration's lease auctions.

    Desperation.
The electrical grid has been under attack for decades. Shooter would encourage anyone interested in what these attacks really are to look at
    NERC
    North American Electric Reliability Corporation
    NERC
Formed in 1967 in response to the infamous New York electrical outage, in 1987 NERC became the frontline organization to fight sabotage of the electrical grid.
The key threat was from foreign government efforts to covertly test the reliability of the electrical grid. NERC started doing security audits of utilities. There was a shocking video of a generator literally shaking itself to pieces because of the introduction of a virus into the operating system of the generator. Not sure if its still out there. Domestic terrorists posess neither the expertise or desire to destroy the electrical grid. That's a government thing that, by the way, our own government has a hand in with foreign governments they consider hostile to American interests.

Its interesting though that just weeks before midterms we see headlines proclaiming
Far-right extremists plotting to attack the energy sector as gas prices finally start to drop

but when we read the report it's mainly about the utility grid, not the petroleum infrastructure. Apparently an attempt to blame conservatives for high gas prices. Even when there isn't hard evidence of that.

That would be a lie, stumbler.
The electrical grid is under almost daily attack, almost exclusively from foreign actors.
Your propaganda doesn't say who exactly is conducting these "new and coordinated" attacks, does it?
      It uses innuendo.

New details are still coming in on the assault of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, and a new detail seemingly increases the likelihood that it was a politically motivated attack.

Sources who have been briefed on the attack CNN's Ana Cabrera, the alleged attacker shouted, "Where is Nancy?" at Paul Pelosi after breaking into his house.

Afterward, the assailant allegedly beat Pelosi with a hammer, which required him to be taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment. Doctors say he is expected to make a full recovery.

Earlier on Friday, the Associated Press reported that law enforcement officials had learned that the assailant specifically targeted Pelosi's house, although they still have not released the attacker's identity.
