The key clauses of the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution are:

Section 1. In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Section 3. Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Why is this Amendment so important right now? I will let a friend of Robert Reich explain. That friend was a former member of Congress on the Republican side. This is an excerpt from a recent Newsweek article.

    [snip]

Me: So they’re pissed off? ['They' refers to Republicans in Congress.] ['Me' is Robert Reich]

He: Not just that. I mean, they have thick hides. The personal stuff got them to notice all the other things. The wild stuff, like those threats to North Korea. Tillerson would leave tomorrow if he wasn’t so worried Trump would go nuclear, literally. ['He' is Reich's friend.]

Me: You think Trump is really thinking nuclear war?

He: Who knows what’s in his head? But I can tell you this. He’s not listening to anyone. Not a soul. He’s got the nuclear codes and, well, it scares the hell out of me. It’s starting to scare all of them. That’s really why Bob spoke up. ['Bob' is Bob Corker, Republican Senator of Tennessee.]

Me: So what could they do? I mean, even if the whole Republican leadership was willing to say publicly he’s unfit to serve, what then?

He: Bingo! The emperor has no clothes. It’s a signal to everyone they can bail. Have to bail to save their skins. I mean, Trump could be the end of the whole goddam Republican party.

Me: If he starts a nuclear war, that could be the end of everything.

He: Yeah, right. So when they start bailing on him, the stage is set.

    Me: For what?

    He: Impeachment. 25th amendment.

Me: You think Republicans would go that far?

He: Not yet. Here’s the thing. They really want to get this tax bill through. That’s all they have going for them. They don’t want to face voters in ’18 or ’20 without something to show for it. They’re just praying Trump doesn’t do something really, really stupid before the tax bill.

    Me: Like a nuclear war?

He: Look, all I can tell you is many of the people I talk with are getting freaked out. It’s not as if there’s any careful strategizing going on. Not like, well, do we balance the tax bill against nuclear war? No, no. They’re worried as hell.

They’re also worried about Trump crazies, all the ignoramuses he’s stirred up. I mean, Roy Moore? How many more of them do you need to destroy the party?

    Me: So what’s gonna happen?

He: You got me. I’m just glad I’m not there anymore. Trump’s not just a moron. He’s a despicable human being. And he’s getting crazier. Paranoid. Unhinged. Everyone knows it.

I mean, we’re in shit up to our eyeballs with this guy.

Blame the White House doctors for doing too good a job keeping this guy "healthy". He is quickly nearing not only his shelf life but usefulness as well.

Just imagine the shitstorm that will be stirred up and the subsequent "powerplay" when this thing gains steam and they actually do show Trump the door ...

We are in shit up to our eyeballs if there are people who think Trump can start dropping nuclear bombs just by pushing a button.
Trump won the vote because he is not a politician. Democrats were guaranteed to win but they forgot to notify the people of this fact.
The republicans had on of their life long politicians lined up for the job.
Trump surprised all of them but it didn't surprise the people who voted him in.
Trump has out smarted both the republicans and the democrats. Both parties are pissed off but just can't keep up with Trump.
While they are running around shitting on their shoes worrying about his latest tweet he is getting things done.
The longer Trump can keep both parties worried about tweets the more he can get done.
Right now the democrats have no idea what all he has already done.

Anyone who participates in Amendment 25 removal of a president will see that their own political career is over.

So far Trump has pissed off a lot of the establishment politicians but that is exactly what he promised to do. Most of the people who voted for him are still behind him. (Makes me wonder how many establishment Republicans actually voted for Hillary?)

First the was the talk of a brokered convention then the recounts, next was the revolt of the electors. Then there was the push for Congress not to certify the results. Finally there was the whole Russian meddling smoke screen. Now all the sore losers are going to try this to because they can't expect the simple fact that the people of the United States of America choose to elect Donald Trump President and they refuse to except it. It just shows how pathetic they really are.

After all dispite how those of us on the right wanted Obama gone it packed in comparison to the hatrid and bigotry detected torwords Trump especially on this forum.

It also will result in the ones responsible from being voted out of office if they should try it. Naturally those with the Democrat for a party affiliation won't be affected but Republicans would be. So it would be political suicide so all this talk only serves as yet another smoke screen. And shows how much of a pathetic sore looser those calling for this action are.

I am not clear on who you are claiming to be sore losers. It is the REPUBLICANS who are complaining about Trump and who fear his impact on the Republican party. The Democrats are complaining but Trump's policies and have no fear of his impact on the Democratic party.

Very good and how fucking many copied and pasted articles by stumbler and his crew have proved wrong.....

Stumbler even said he donated to Jill Stien's recount that blew up with more votes for Trump
except where there where more votes than registered voters...

Gen Kelly is even getting sick of the press's lies....
he tells press they need to find better sources assuming they have sources...

The democrats just can't accept it. After all they had Hillary. Everybody knew Hillary was supposed to be the president.
She had everything going for her. 100% backing from democrats. Backed by the news media. Backed by 100% of the women.
Backed by 100% of the blacks, Mexicans, and all the illegals. Even backed by many of the republican politicians.
They forgot one thing. The people get to vote.
One other thing they forgot. Hillary is a crook and even her backers knew that.
Hillary was defeated by the people she thought was beneath her. Those who had to be told what to do.

I just hope the democrats run her again next time. Or at least some of the same type.

I'm not having a political nightmare. This has been kinda fun watching the political establishment fight with the White House about every little thing that Trump says. If Congress would pass a bill on an issue he's interested in, he would probably sign it, just to say that something was being done.

Republicans have too many life long politicians like McCain that will try to stop anything Trump tries to do.
It is about time for senile politicians get out of the way and let people that can remember yesterday take their place.
When they forget where they are and what they are talking about they should not be voting on anything.

You do realize that Trump is 70 years old, don't you?!?!?!?!? You do realize that today Trump did not remember that the US Virgin Islands have a Governor, and that the President of the Virgin Islands is HIMSELF, don't you?!?!?!?!? I am all for Trump resigning so that a non-senile politician can take his place!!!!

Trump is far ahead of the life long politicians on his worst day.
Trump was a success before becoming president. Most of the politicians sucked on the government tit all of their life.
They have no idea how to make a living in real life.

If nothing else it is exposing the shortcomings of the American political system but I wouldn't hold my breath wait for a fix.

This partisanship is killing the USA and any hope of uniting it's citizens. That is the fault of BOTH sides ...

The Last administration sucked too. Obama did nothing. Only thing I can think of from the last administration was Obamacare and Drones. Other than that he did not do shit. Most governments dont do shit but send poor people to war to fight other poor people. Hopefully Obama will get smart and spend the rest of his life serving the people he put down.

I don't think we were meant to notice that. Trump wants to tear apart the USC one amendment at a time and is starting with statutes as is evident with his latest ramblings about revoting FCC licenses, even though not even he knows WTF he is talking about there.

The only think I ever hear about the FCC doing is trying to regulate the Internet. The ramblings from trump are unwarranted. They probably have a ton of frineds in the FCC and when they fight it usually means they are on the same side and up to something that we cant figure out because were caught sleeping on what the ramblings are. Most likely whatever is passed, they are on the same page and nothing legitimate ever gets passed. I must say he probably does know what he is talking bout even though it sounds like he don't.
