I have a lot of stories going, usually a couple that are incomplete, and many past one's I go into and tune up. Seems no matter how many times I have rad a story I can always find another typo or clumsy wording. I have a lot of trouble writing other peoples dialogue. I'm in my own head just fine, but putting believable replies in victims mouths is a challenge. (While they can still speak, at least.)

 

I'm old and have been writing short erotic stories for many years, but have never had a writing course and would like to learn. I'm looking for a good book preferably E book on the basics of writing...inexpensive too...any one have any suggestions?

 

I don't think you can get too dark, as long as you stick to adult characters. Thanks to all the keywords each of seeks the level of awful that we like, and being dark or nice just tunes your audience. There's plenty of Horror, Brutality, Snuff, and Cannibalism for examples of blunt (in your face!)Darkness.

I like fantasizing about the forbidden, so write for myself across a wide range:
From barely a consent violation (Victim keeps saying "No, stop" but does not fight back at all and sometimes enjoys what happens.)
To the darkest of brutal violations that end in sometimes bloody destruction where only the bad actor walks away.

You pays you money (Oh wait, it's all free!) and make your choice.

 

Adult characters is the key and good advice. I tried to collaborate a few times with people that insisted on the characters being #x age..I kept telling them, either age them up or just remove any reference to age...but allas...not sure what the deal was they couldn't and had to drop them.. I mean how hard is it to stop saying the person is #x years old?

 

basically remove the context, illude if you can wtihout being explicit, and let the reader's mind fill the gaps..it's not rocket science and will keep you from getting banned.

I find it interesting that after writing about 100 stories in various styles and lengths, I stopped about a year ago. Nothing interesting came to mind. Now 3 new stories in less than a week.

 

Strunk's "The Elements of Style" is a classic.

Tell me, my fellow letter jugglers, is there something strange going on with voting stories on sexstoriescom?

I don't mean to toot my own horn too much, but when I compare the voting on newly published stories with legacy stories, there appears to be a mismatch. There are a lot of somewhat mediocre older stories with sometimes 30:1 upvotes, yet newly published stories have usually very abysmal ratios.

Is there some weird downvoting-for-sports going on? Am I missing something?

 

And I know for a fact those are fake votes. Mods unlocked a few chapters at once. No one get's to chapter four in mere minutes and casts an informed vote. It is impossible.

Hello. First you need to do 5 more posts, so you reach the magic number of 6 and can be allowed to publish on the story site. In the meantime, unless you have a story already created, you need to write one. Note you need to have a text story ready to post, you can't write from scratch on the site.

That's true, though there are both good and bad differences in posting on the story site vs posting in a forum thread.
