  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Hello everyone, I was wondering how everyone feels about character build up in erotic stories? Do you prefer for the author to get right to it with minimal storytelling or do you like getting to know the characters before getting to the steamy scenes? I'm in the process of writing and I'm afraid I may be spending too much time building the relationship between my characters (an estranged father and 18 yr old daughter written from daughter's POV)

Im a novice blogger/writer of erotic things but I believe build up is effective towards sensual suspense. I say that because I believe the reader will be able to attach or resonate themselves to either character then place themselves as if they are the character. Causing sensational resonance. I would go for it in my opinion!

Personally, I enjoy a nice build up. It gives me (the reader) an artist picture of the story I'm reading. Most men like a certain type of woman and during a fantasy it becomes a go-to image and can make it so every character looks the same. If you elaborate and give us the image you have for your character, it's like having a different girl for each fantasy.

Thank you for your response, I agree. I haven't written erotica in a long time and I used to draw every scene and action as a picture with words, I always wanted readers to feel like they were in the story. However, that also backfires because it ends up being too long and drawn out before getting into the "good" parts, which is what I'm afraid of with this story.

I'm learning by posting on a few different sites that as a writer we have to remember it's our story first, we are giving it to the readers but we can't keep making good stories if we worry about making everyone happy. I like to try making myself happy first and hopefully, there will be people who enjoy some of the same things I find erotic.

Maybe make it into a series. Release a good portion of what you have now and take the time to work on parts and release when you feel comfortable with the work? Some of my favorite stories are series and the buildup of each story are great.

Character development in a story is a must for me to make it truly great. The really good author's on this site do that. Quick and to the point stories are good but in my opinion make the reader feel like they are in the story

I would say that a good 80% of stories on this website are relatively buildup-free. A lot of people only look at the 'most recent' on the forums or the 'highest rated last 30 days' on the website and think that's all the site has to offer, but there's a lot more and the grand majority of people don't want to commit to writing buildup. Even as a writing strategy buildup is great, because it helps people remember your stories after they get off. If you want to make something of your writing (and given the way you introduced the story, I assume you want people to notice the story itself) then you're going about it the right way by introducing it with a lot of buildup. I'm really looking forward to reading your work. :)

Also, A Game of Inches is alright, but it's one of the most overrated stories on this website. Fight me.

I find it all depends on time.
If I've got half an hour to spare I will look for a story that gets quickly to the action.
If on the other hand I have an hour or two to spare I will look for a full on story with lots of character development and more story for your buck.

I have to say that I am dumbfounded to what is considered a good story nowadays. Shit is laughable but I guess people like what they like. SMH

Top rated doesn't always mean 'best,' more like 'widest range of appeal.' I noticed that with my current series, people didn't like the direction I took with chapters 5-10 so any time it got back onto the Top 30 Days list, it got downvoted back off of it again. C'est la vie. I'm not going to beat myself up over this, it's just the way things are. Some variety of 'Banging My Mom Part 7' always dominates the list not because the story is superior, but because most people are here for that level of taboo and/or kink. Having a story means you potentially alienate fuck-and-chuck readers. Having characters that make individual decisions means you alienate anyone who might disagree with those characters. The percentage on stories more accurately reflects popularity and range of appeal than quality. That's why like three of the top rated stories of all time don't use proper punctuation and grammar. To a lot of readers, it is not a factor.

I read some of the these stories and can hardly get through a quarter of it then look at the rating it gets and say, "What the fuck am I missing here!"
All of my stories have been well received by the community, but I'm just flabbergasted by the utter nonsense that is out there now.

My series of What a Difference a Summer Makes & What Would Steven Do? took time, effort and some research to develop the story. What I've been reading or trying hard to read is just wham, bam, thank you mam!

I just re-read certain stories now such as... wait for it... Game of Inches!

    Had to get that in
