If fiscal responsibility includes doubling the debt, adding more debt in 8 years than all presidents before, Shooter will take Republican "faux fiscal responsibility" anytime.
And the other thing is, at least with the Republican fiscal responsibility, we have something to show for it.
You know, like the fall of the Berlin Wall and the fall of the U.S.S.R.

On many occasions I have said that while I like Obama, and voted for him in 2008 and 2012 I am disappointed with him. His big mistake was in not raising taxes on the rich soon after his inauguration when his approval rating was 67%, like most Americans wanted him to, and increasing government employment with programs like the Civilian Conservation Corps, which was popular during the Roosevelt Administration with Democrats and Republicans.

What you would have had Obama do, creating a new CCC, using government employment and so forth, would have killed the weak recovery we did get. It would have made millions more Americans dependent on Government for their subsistence.

At a very basic level, Shooter believes in the ability of people to take care of themselves. When government gets involved they "kill with kindness"; taking away the individual ability to strive for a higher goal, a better life, and making them dependent on Government largess. Letting Government decide how high they reach, and whether or not they succeed.

Shooter understands; Distant Lover believes in big government and in socialism. He will always lean towards more government programs, higher taxes, and less independence. Of taking from "the rich" and giving to the poor, whether deserved or not, whether it's needed or not, whether it's fair or not.

So here's the thing. Against all logic, against all common sense, we have a pompous gas bag in the oval office who, since he announced his candidacy, has run against the grain.

His popularity has grown every time he offends someone or some group. He won when the pundits said he absolutely, positively could not. Our crazy President is riding an economic growth spurt unlike anything we've seen since WWII. How long will it last? Shooter's crystal ball has a crack in it so he can't tell. What he can tell is, unemployment is so low it's beyond full employment and there's no indication it will change any time soon. There's a sense of optimism that Shooter hasn't seen since 9/11. The stock market is setting new records every week. The terrorists are being hunted down and eradicated. Life is good, overall.

Shooter came across a thing Einstein said. He said avoid negative people; they can find a problem for any solution.

And right now, that's where we're at, you and I. Shooter is optimistic like he hasn't been since 9/11. You, on the other hand, are endlessly pessimistic and negative. So be it. Shooter hopes you get better.
