Jonathan Turley says 'partisan troll' Nancy Pelosi needs to apologize or step down as House Speaker

Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley blasted “partisan troll” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Wednesday for tearing up President Trump’s State of the Union speech, calling for her to apologize or step down.

“Her conduct tore up more than a speech, but decades of tradition and left any semblance of civility in tatters on the House floor,” Turley wrote on his website.



Turley explained that he “marveled at the beehive of activity on the floor in the People’s House” when he was able to visit as a Democratic 15-year-old page over four decades ago.

“The country was deeply divided, but both parties maintained the tradition of civility and decorum. I was struck how members, even in the heat of furious debates, would not attack each other by name and followed rigid principles of decorum. They understood that they were the custodians of this institution and bore a duty to strengthen and pass along those traditions to the next generation,” Turley wrote. “That is why I was (and remain) so offended by this display.”

Turley -- who was called before the House Judiciary Committee to argue against impeachment -- feels that Trump “is worthy of criticism for not shaking the hand of Pelosi” and he didn’t approve of some aspects of the speech, but that doesn’t excuse Pelosi’s behavior.

“At that moment, she represents the House as an institution — both Republicans and Democrats. Instead, she decided to become little more than a partisan troll from an elevated position,” Turley wrote. “It was the tradition of the House that a speaker must remain in stone-faced neutrality no matter what comes off that podium. The tradition ended last night with one of the more shameful and inglorious moments of the House in its history.”

Pelosi ripped up her copy of Trump’s speech as soon as it concluded on Tuesday night in a remarkable scene that has shocked pundits and lawmakers. Asked about the moment by Fox News afterward, Pelosi said she had destroyed the speech “because it was the courteous thing to do considering the alternatives.” She also said she was "trying to find one page with truth on it" but "couldn't."

Turley concluded his column by calling for Pelosi to either apologize or let someone else do her prestigious job.



“For those of us who truly love the House as an institution, it was one of the lowest moments to unfold on the floor… if Pelosi does not apologize and agree to honor the principle of neutrality and civility at the State of the Union, she should resign as speaker,” he wrote.

Pelosi needs to explain why, if everything President Trump said was a lie, she applauded and even stood when Trump introduced the fake war hero, the fake widow and fake son of a fallen hero, and several other times during President Trumps speech.

Pelosi is a lying incompetent amoral unethical corrupt political hack and good riddance to her.

Or is she planning on staying in office and breaking yet another promise to America?

While some backed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her breaking of all norms and traditions when she ripped up President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech, most Americans were disgusted that she would do such a despicable thing about such a positive speech, celebrating America and Americans. Especially in front of all the State of the Union guests who were being honored in that speech, many of whom have gone through so much already.

As we reported, Jody Jones’ brother Rocky was killed by an illegal alien, thanks to the sanctuary laws in California that Pelosi has backed. He already had to suffer much because of the Democrats’ positions. But for Pelosi to rip up the speech which honored his brother and the other people featured at the SOTU was just horrible. Jones spoke about what all the guests felt at that moment. “It felt like she ripped our hearts out,” Jones told Fox News during an interview after the fact. “Everybody there. All of the guests. We couldn’t believe it,” he added.


It wasn’t only her antics, either. Democrats applauded her ripping up the speech and sat or walked out when people like Brigadier General Charles McGee and other guests were being honored.



It disgusted people, and not just Republicans and the guests who were honored.

There were a lot of Democrats who couldn’t believe what it either and they are not only cancelling Pelosi, they’re cancelling the Democratic Party. As in, they’re out, never voting Democrat again after that.

“I’m a Democrat, but I no longer will vote Democrat,” said one caller. “I think it’s outrageous that they sat there when all these good things are happening to our country and how much we love our country. And they looked like they hated our country…It’s outrageous and I will never vote Democrat again.” She went on to say that all her family voted for Hillary last time but this time they will never vote for a Democrat again.

But she wasn’t the only one. A man called in and said, “Let me put it this way, I’ve been a Democrat for 70-some years and what I saw tonight was appalling to me…it was very disrespectful to this president and I didn’t vote for him…but that man is the president and we should respect him.” He continued, “What I’ve seen tonight of the Democrat party, I am changing my mind…I’ll probably stay home. I’m embarrassed being a God-danged Democrat for what they did in the House today.” Then he had me rolling on the floor with this. “They looked like a bunch of dadgum idiots sitting there.”

Another woman called in and not only ripped Pelosi but ripped the other Democrats for sitting there and not clapping for the good things that Trump was talking about and the people he was honoring. “I watched my president give a speech on everything great that’s happening in our country but yet, Nancy Pelosi and the others who were dressed in white, I might add, just sitting over there, never standing, never clapping for anything that might be good for the country—I don’t understand it. I used to be a Democrat, and I am no longer a Democrat.”

According to PJ Media, those in the above clip weren’t the only ones, there were “many more calls saying the same thing.”

I remember one of our regular leftist members posted an article about negative campaigning. It was rather insightful saying negative campaigning strengthened support amongst voters with entrenched belief but had the affect turning off independent and moderate voters. Thankfully they haven't realized that's exactly what Nancy Pelosi, Adam Shiff and the rest of the resistance. Because that's exactly what she did with her little temper tantrum.

It will turn moderate democrats away from the polls or get them to vote for the other side and shift even more independent voters over to Republican candidates come November.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may have gone too far when she ripped up President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech after he was done giving it on Tuesday, even for Democrats.

According to the Daily Wire, a prominent congressman and a Democratic law professor have come forward and are now demanding Pelosi step down as Speaker for her behavior.


Rep. Lee Zeldin apparently was taken aback by Pelosi’s post-speech move and wrote: “Nancy Pelosi should step down as Speaker. I’m confident that the American public will be directly sending her that message themselves later this year if she doesn’t read the tea leaves herself and resign on her own terms today. It’s time.”


The Daily Wire also noted that George Washington University Law professor Jonathan Turley joined Zeldin by noting that in all his years, he had never seen such open contempt for a member of the opposite party and that Pelosi had crossed a line, even going so far as to call her a troll:

If you were to look at Pelosi’s move, it could definitely be described as trollish. As Vice President Mike Pence said, Pelosi took a speech about America and tried to make it about her. She succeeded, but not in the way that she hoped. It would appear that Democrats everywhere aren’t pleased with her behavior.

I would like to see Pelosi run for President. That way she can learn that she has no support outside of the rarified air of San Francisco. I doubt she could even successfully win the office of senator or governor in her own state. A little reality check might do her good.

In spite of the non-stop impeachment pushes, smear campaigns, and fake news stories that have swirled since day one of his presidency, recent polling suggests that President Trump’s approval rating with the American people is on the rise, with him getting especially high marks on his handling of the economy.

That Trump has weathered the impeachment storm is an inconvenient truth that very few mainstream media journalists care to acknowledge. But during a Wednesday segment on Fox News shortly after Trump was acquitted on both impeachment articles, not even Chris Wallace could deny that the President is in better shape now politically than he was when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced the launch of the House’s impeachment inquiry in September:


“As far as the political impact, I think you’d have to say that Donald Trump is better off now than he was when the impeachment process began,” Wallace said.

“He’s had a number of bipartisan successes on trade deals, the economy is rolling along. The Gallup poll just came out. It’s the highest he’s had in this presidency, 49 percent,” he added, lamenting that the country remains “50-50, bitterly divided.”


And beyond the signing of the USMCA, the rise in approval numbers, the Iowa Democratic caucus debacle, and Trump’s acquittal, today’s blockbuster jobs numbers report will only add to Trump’s post-acquittal good news – all of which has Democrats fretting in a big way.

The icing on the cake for Trump is the fact that Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is ready to get back to the business of judicial confirmations, which has the added benefit of shoring up Trump’s base of Republican voters.

To be sure, there’s still a long time to go between now and November, but for a man who has been under a constant barrage from Democrats, Never Trumpers, and their media allies with no end in sight, to be in such a good political shape in the aftermath is pretty remarkable.

It’s no wonder Trump took a few victory laps Thursday.

 

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi Will Run for Her 17th Term

On Nov. 3, 2020, the United States elections will be held. All 435 seats in the House, 34 of the 100 seats in the Senate, and the office of president will be contested.

Unlike Pelosi, 4 Democrats and 15 Republican House members as of early September 2019 declared that they will not seek re-election, as well as 1 Democrat and 3 Republicans in the Senate.

During her interview, the speaker shared her thoughts about why she thinks the 15 Republican House members are choosing to retire in 2020.

“I think it’s an indication that Republicans know that they’ll probably be serving in the minority in the next Congress and most likely with a Democrat in the White House,” said Pelosi. “So maybe they think it’s time to spend more time with their families.”

Republicans will need to win 18 seats in the House to win the majority and gain control.

Pelosi has said she was poised to retire after the 2016 election if Hillary Clinton had won. But she decided to stay on when Donald Trump won instead.

Republican Running Against Pelosi Cleans San Francisco

She’s taking it one step at a time in San Francisco. On Monday, she organized a ‘San Francisco City Day of Action’ by inviting all kinds of people to clean up the streets. She says this should be a bipartisan issue, unaffiliated to political views. She said she also invited Nancy Pelosi, but said she did not come to the clean-up event.

She and her group of volunteers met up at City Hall, and cleaned their way through the Tenderloin district, a neighborhood known for especially dirty streets.

“So far, definitely, the majority of things that I’ve picked up are cigarette butts. We literally starting walking 2 minutes ago,” said Alejandro Gonzalez, a volunteer.

They made a pit stop to clean up a parking lot in between a residence and a veteran’s building that was littered with trash.

They found plastic scraps, bottles, cans, and even needles in that area.

 

Nancy was supposed to retire in 2020. Shooter bets, if she feels pressure in her reelection she'll decide to retire.

 

She was supposed to retire when Hillary won, I dont think she knows yet that she has probably put the nail in her retirement.

The banner, paid for by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Republican opponent, DeAnna Lorraine, directs those who see it to a petition, located at PelosiForPrison.co, which calls for Pelosi to be jailed for her “crimes against America.” With the banner coming just a day after President Donald Trump’s acquittal in the Pelosi-driven impeachment hearings, it is a sign that some conservatives are moving off of the defensive, and instead focusing on offensive attacks against left-wing figures like Pelosi.


Speaking with Big League Politics, Lorraine states that the banner was a part of her plan to expose Pelosi’s record while in the Congress, along with her “egregious crimes against America.”

“I am running for Congress to clean out the corruption that is Nancy Pelosi. Instead of caring for the people of
San Francisco and advancing their issues on a national scale, she spends her time conducting asinine
impeachments and investigations that amount to absolutely nothing” said DeAnna. “It’s past time we start
hitting her hard on her record of poor leadership and egregious crimes against America, and I look very much
forward to retiring her in November.”

This banner definitely gets that message across, and surely has Nancy Pelosi shaking with rage.
