Whoa, whoa, whoa. Are you guys saying that politicians don't always tell the truth?

 

It's an old cliche that politicians lie, and politicians, like voters, don't always express the truth as others see it. Of course, the "all politicians lie" meme is only invoked when the candidate one supports has been caught in a blatant falsehood.

The problem with our current President is that he is such bad liar. It's the difference between saying, "I love you," and saying, "I never said I love you." Whether one loves the person, or not, they heard you say it. Trump's lies are so pathetic, even his most rabid supporters won't defend him when someone exposes a lie. The best you'll get is , "but Hillary/Obama/Satan/Creature from the Black Lagoon lied too."

Trump's lies are unnecessary. For example, his comment about the parents of soldiers missing action in Korea. There are no such parents still alive. But, combine Trump's poor understanding of history and even poorer grasp of arithmetic, and he easily claims communication with the dead.

His lies reveal an insecurity that makes him vulnerable to manipulation by the people he envies. The real shame is that he envies Putin and Kim Jong-un more than anyone.

Corker is posturing for the Republican nomination in 2020.

Then...questions will be raised about all of his successful financial decisions he has made while in the Senate and the Senate Banking Committee.

You might not agree with Corker and his stand of calling out Trump, but I do. He is not running for reelection, he's keeping his promise to only serve two terms, which alone is more than most in Congress will ever do (keep their promises that is). Corker may well have cost the Republicans a Senate seat, by his refusal to run for a third term.

So now the electorate in Tennessee will have a chance to elect a brand new Senator. One in the running for his seat is Marsha Blackburn, R House of Rep, who is favored in the Aug 2nd primary. Opposing her will likely be Phil Bredesen, D, former Governor of Tennessee and former Mayor of Nashville. She will have a tough time beating Phil.
