Cancel border plans, don't worry about the massive caravans, by golly, get those taxes out for doggo to see.

Where's the money from Mexico that Trump promised would pay for his wall?

If Trump is so rich, why does he ask me for money? Yes, me! :arghh:

Nearly every week I get an e-mail from him asking for a donation. He claims to be so rich that he does not need to ask anyone for money.

We know that Trump has been in debt a few times. Once he was walking in Manhattan with his first wife. They saw a homeless man. Trump said to the first Mrs. Trump, "If he has a few quarters in his pocket he is richer than I am."

There's another straw you're grasping at....where's the money from Mexico??? But if you had 4 billion, would you blow the wad
on politicking? I wouldn't. Now he funded his campaign to get elected. Who else has done that? So you're giving him shit for
doing what every other has done?

The man can't get a break...well, until now. Maybe, just maybe we're hitting a breaking point. AH! We made up our own emergency
and now let's run with it...on three.

I think we ought to keep the caravan people out. Like most Americans I do not see the caravan people as an existential threat to the United States.

    ---------

    Monmouth University, Nov. 19, 2018

West Long Branch, NJ – A majority of Americans say a caravan of migrants now approaching the nation’s southern border poses at least a minor threat to the country, according to the Monmouth University Poll. At the same time, 7-in-10 say that these migrants should be given the opportunity to enter the country if they meet certain requirements. Half are disinclined to believe that terrorists are traveling with the caravan, although 1-in-4 seem fairly certain that those claims are true.

Overall, 29% of Americans see the migrant caravan traveling toward our border with Mexico as a major threat to the U.S., 24% see it as a minor threat, and 39% see it as no real threat to the country.

    ---------

The way to reduce the number of illegal immigrants is to punish their employers and landlords. That works fairly well in Norway. Republican politicians do not like that idea because employers and landlords are part of the Republican donor class.

So now, let's look at Trump's tax returns and the results of the entire Mueller Investigation.

That's the plan - to keep the caravan people out. Like all Texans, and all Americans, we saw it start with 500's of people, then 1,000's
and steadily increased to 100,000 apprehended in the month of March alone. SIR pipes in with it wasn't 100K, it was 93,000. Jesus.
Whatever, I mean that's 7,000 LESS!!!! We should celebrate!!!

And OK, we implement Norway's system. Now we have millions of unemployable hungry homeless people begging the streets. Great plan.
No, you keep them out in the first place.

I doubt Trump will release his returns, and you bothering us daily about it isn't gonna help one iota. <ya ain't gonna see the entire Mueller investigation either>

Mnuchin schooled on law that says turn over Trump’s taxes or face 5 years in prison: ‘There is no wriggle room’

    https://www.rawstory.com/2019/04/mn...ps-taxes-face-5-years-prison-no-wriggle-room/

PS One thing I have been reading lately is Mnuchin is considered a dangerous clown by many members of congress and even people inside the White House. In fact one White House insider says that in the past they have deliberately sent Mnuchin on trips when they are discussing big issues so he's out of the way. And another said he is actually under orders not to speak to the press.

Well we already know Mnuchin in not the smartest. And I think we are about to find out if he's also not the bravest.

‘His own tax lawyer testified against him’: Trump biographer David Cay Johnston explains why Trump is terrified of his taxes

*Full disclosure. Once upon a time on a site far far away I posted I just heard David Cay Johnston on TV saying all was lost. And about an hour later David Cay Johnston showed up under his real same to say in no uncertain terms not to misquote him. And it was important. What he was really saying is we need to fight like hell. Because it ain't dark yet. But its getting there. And I have been biased towards him ever since.

And by the way do you know what he won his Pulitzer for? It was for writing about taxes and tax laws for the New York Times.

Tax returns don't show net worth...at all. Y'all need to start whining to see his portfolio...if you're worried he's not a billionaire.

I'd go for the package deal. Taxes plus portfolio.

But tax returns do show sources of income...

Don't confuse yourself. This isn't about his networth. That's just a GOP/MAGA talking point.

I am opposed to Trump's Wall for two reasons: it will harm the environment; it is too expensive.

I do think that once a person is identified as an illegal immigrant he or she should be deported. Several years ago I suggested tattooing illegal immigrants. I still think that is a good idea. The tattoo will serve two functions: it will discourage the illegal immigrant from coming back; it will discourage others in his/her country from trying to come here.

I am opposed to sanctuary cities and anchor babies.

I question Trump's sincerity on this issue, because he has hired illegal immigrants himself. I think he is pandering to the white working class people who compete with illegal immigrants and legal immigrants, and who earn less as a result. Ronald Reagan did the same with the religious right that helped him to be elected and reelected. He gave rhetorical support to the religious right but he did not advance the concerns of Christian conservatives. Like Trump, I question Reagan's sincerity. He hardly ever went to church.

All immigration depresses wages by the law of supply and demand. This is why the Republican base opposes immigration. It is why the Republican donor class quietly supports it, and sees to it that immigration rates remain high.

House oversight chairman will subpoena Trump's accountant

The chairman of the House Oversight Committee said Friday he intends to subpoena President Donald Trump's accountant for his financial records.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., told committee members in a letter that Mazars USA wouldn't turn over records for Trump, his company and related entities without a subpoena.

The oversight committee sent a letter to Mazars on March 20 requesting information on how those financial statements and other disclosure documents were prepared.

Mazars responded March 27 that it could not provide the records without a Congressional subpoena.

The same day, the committee's top Republican sent a letter to Mazars claiming that Cummings' request exceeded the committee's legislative authority. The request "does not appear to have a valid legislative purpose and instead seems to seek information to embarrass a private individual," Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, wrote.

Cummings criticized Jordan in his letter Friday, calling his actions "troubling" and saying that they worked to undermine the committee's authority and impair its investigations.

Jordan shot back in a statement, saying Cummings could've held a vote on the subpoena this week but instead waited until committee members left Washington for the Easter break to seek their input.

He called the move to subpoena financial records from Trump's accountant "an astonishing abuse" of the committee's authority and a "disgraceful departure" from fair and legitimate oversight.

I think I am like most people( 56% to 27%,) and could give a shit less about how wealthy Trump is or isn't. What we want to know is he compromised by borrowing Russian money. Is Trump and his family beholden to other countries. And we want to know if he cheats on his taxes. And yes we do have a right to know those things. Because Trump isn't just some other citizen. He is the POTUS and is supposed to be working for us.

And obviously Trump is only out for himself and using the Presidency for one great big White House infomercial to put more money in his and his family's pockets. But thankfully we do have the Democrats working for us.

Democrats set Monday deadline for move to subpoena Trump’s tax returns: report

*Note this is not the Judiciary Committee Chaired by Jerry Nadler that has demanded Trump's tax returns as specifically mandated by law. This is a whole new front. And Trump and his supporters underestimate Elijah Cummings ,at their own peril.

CORRECTION: I named the wrong chairman and committee in the post above. The correct committee is House Ways and Means Committee Chair Richard E. Neal (D-MA)

If the Democrats keep digging they will uncover some really odorous scandals.

They should keep throwing stuff at the wall until they find something that sticks.

And there is no requirement in the statue that places any requirement on why the committee is making any request.

Really? What things did Obama ignore? Did Congress request his taxes? Oh, right, whenCongress subpoenas tax returns, they don't actually ask the president, they ask the treasury Secretary... The president shouldn't have anything to say about that...
