    I am betting Trump was told he was going to be indicted a couple weeks ago and his lawyers and the Manhattan DA have been ingratiating how when and where ever since.     New York Times correspondent, best-selling author, and CNN analyst Maggie Haberman called out Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy for “threatening” investigations after ex-President Donald Trump ranted about being ‘ARRESTED ON TUESDAY.

    Trump touched off a firestorm Saturday morning with a pair of all-caps social media posts that culminated in a call to unrest. In his posts Trump urged supporters to ‘TAKE OUR NATION BACK!’ in an early-morning all-caps rant over reports he claims say he ” WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK.”


    Trump appeared to be reacting to reports that various law enforcement agencies are meeting next week with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office to prepare for a possible indictment and arrest of Trump in Bragg’s case against Trump over hush money payments to Stormy Daniels.

    McCarthy seemed to respond by posting a message, hours later, vowing investigations of prosecutors probing Trump, writing:

    Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump.

    I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.

    Haberman reported on all of the developments for the New York Times, and called McCarthy out in a tweet, writing “The Speaker who partly owes his speakership to Trump is making a threat against Bragg and others of investigation.”





    Haberman — a deeply-sourced expert on the former president — also posted an observation that’s sure to get under Trump’s skin, writing “Hard to overstate how much anxiety Trump, who was first investigated criminally in the late 1970s, has around the prospect of being arrested.”

    That’s according to Haberman’s article based on “people with knowledge of the matter,” which states Trump “has been deeply anxious about the prospect of arrest, which is expected to include being fingerprinted, one of the people said.”

    In an afternoon follow-up on Truth Social, ex-president and 2024 GOP candidate Donald Trump tripled down on his earlier call for supporters to come out in protest of what he says will be his arrest “on Tuesday of next week.”

    After he posted his all-caps rant on Saturday morning, the internet and political news exploded with speculation and reactions, including both Rep. Maxine Waters and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow joining those saying Trump was implicitly calling for “domestic terror” or “another January 6 type event.”

    While some on the right, including one of the January 6 organizers, have said that taking to the streets is a bad idea, others are enthusiastic about Trump’s call for protesting.


    Ignoring all those reactions, Trump tripled down on his original comments in a Truth post later in the day on Saturday.

    “THEY’RE KILLING OUR NATION AS WE SIT BACK & WATCH. WE MUST SAVE AMERICA!PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!” he wrote in all caps.



    Podcast host Dean Obeidallah on Saturday wrote that any protests meant to disrupt police action by blocking roads around Mar-a-Lago would be a felony under a law signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

    I don't think he is however. I think former President Trump welcomes this. This is the ultimate way to get his base fired up. I think that in some weird way he thinks that this will help him. Call it marytydom or victimization or another label but guaranteed, he will try to use it to his advantage. I guess, so would I. Of the roughly 240 million eligible voters, about 168 million voted in the last presidential election. Maybe he's playing to that crowd of 33% that didn't vote. That's a tough way to live, playing to the unknown but gamblers do it all the time. I just wouldn't take that bet.

    NEW YORK (Reuters) -New York City prosecutors on Thursday said Donald Trump created a false expectation of his arrest and led fellow Republicans in Congress to interfere with a probe of his hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

    On Saturday, the former president forecast he would be arrested on Tuesday in the probe by the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

    On Monday, three Republican committee chairmen in the U.S. House of Representatives from went on the offensive against District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, accusing him of abusing prosecutorial authority.



    As of Wednesday, a grand jury hearing evidence in the Stormy Daniels case had yet to issue an indictment, and on Thursday Bragg's office sent the committee chairmen a letter seen by Reuters.

    The letter said the chairmen's accusations "only came after Donald Trump created a false expectation that he would be arrested the next day and his lawyers reportedly urged you to intervene."


    It confirmed that Bragg's office was "investigating allegations that Donald Trump engaged in violations of New York State penal law."

    If indicted, Trump would be the first U.S. president to face criminal charges in a court. He served as president from 2017-2021 and has mounted a third campaign for the White House while facing legal woes on several fronts.

    The grand jury, made up of U.S. citizens residing in Manhattan, convened in January. A former fixer for Trump said he made the payment to Daniels days before the 2016 presidential election at Trump's direction.

    Daniels, a well-known adult film actress and director whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has said she received the money in exchange for keeping silent about a sexual encounter she had with Trump in 2006.

    Trump has denied he ever had an affair with Daniels, maintained his innocence and said the investigation was politically motivated.

    The response on Thursday from Bragg's office said the three Republican House committee chairmen had sought non-public information about a pending criminal investigation, which is confidential under state law.

    "The letter's requests are an unlawful incursion into New York's sovereignty," said the letter signed by the district attorney's general counsel, Leslie Dubeck. "Congress cannot have any legitimate legislative task relating to the oversight of local prosecutors enforcing state law."


    Trump also faces federal investigations stemming from his handling of government documents after leaving the White House and his attempts to overturn his 2020 election defeat, as well as a state-level probe in Georgia into whether he unlawfully sought to reverse the 2020 election results in that state.

      Then the grand jury doesn't move as expected, or maybe that was Bragg's way of trying to intimidate Trump, or something but the point is, there was blowback from the "little leak" and now Bragg is whining about it.

    I think you got that backwards, dog. Please read the Reuters news report that clearly says that it was former President Trump that issued the statement that he was to be arrested last Tuesday. No report from N.Y. prosecutor Alvin Braggs office preceded Mr. Trumps announcement.

    And notice how he automatically blames the Manhattan DA's office for the leak. When there are dozens of people that would have been notified in advance that Bragg intended to indict Trump. Top on that list would have been Trump's own lawyers who certainly told Trump. And others would have been the Secret Service and NYC PD to prepare for protests and the violence Trump is calling for.
