Okay, so you don't know who did it, and you don't know the real reason the appeal was shut down, and you haven't seen the evidence that supposedly exonerated al-Megrahi. Why, then, do you act like you know everything there is to know?

Why do you keep stating the "British government" he was held under Scottish law and released by the Scottish government take it up with them and leave the rest of us Brits out of it.
Personally I was not convinced of his guilt and the retrial should have gone ahead, but I suspect pressure from all parties involved in his conviction added to the pressure for his release to Libya therefore negating the embarrassment of failing in another costly trial in Den Haag.

Thry haven't divorced but they have had a seperate legal system for over 300 years. Indeed the provision of that seperate legal system is one of the articles contained in the Treaty of Union between Scotland and England.

Since Devolution not only is the legal system seperate but the ministers have no responsibility to the UK parliament whatsoever. They're accountable only to the Scottish parliament and its electorate. Unfortunately for the conspiracy theorists BP lobbying the UK government and the Libyan UK prisoner transfer agreement are moot because none of these parties had any say in the matter.

As to those asking for an investigation. The Scottish Parliament has already held an investigation in this at the start of the year. That report was published. It is likely that the Justice commmittee may have another look when the summer recess is over although for all it's bluster nothing our American friends have raised is new.

The Brittish Government, Brittish Patroleum, and libyan premier Muammar Al-gaddafi all got together behind closed doors to broker a notorious deal with Libyan oil contractors and both the Brittish gov and BP.

Libya needed a local hero and show of thier force to the western world, and the grandness of islamic influence reigning supreme. So they told the brittish gov that if you give us the Lockerbie bomber under the cover of hospicely ill we will give you billions of contracts worth of oil drilling for BP.

Of course the greedy snotty brittish gov stepped aboard for the sake that they are only losing one dieing criminal for billions in oil.

That is the case of what happened. Of course we all know there is no higher echelon in brittish government than the government itself so of course there is no regard for thier actions. The inflicted famillies be damned.
