  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The current new variants are not the ones to worry about , re the vaccines.
It is the fact that they vary/mutate faster also.

Hence more people getting infected faster =

    more variants faster =

more chances of a more difficult mutation every day it continues.
and every week and month that risk increases exponentially while it is increasing.

The only way to decrease that risk , is to decrease the numbers ,and that is not being achieved.

We always knew it could happen , now the first warning shot is already here and been fired.

What will the next few months produce ?
if we don't get some control and slow this thing down.
The constant problem is that there is already a more dangerous variation spreading any day , for days before we know if it.

    UK - 68,000 cases yesterday

Now tell us about the idea that getting down to 12,000 cases was a good time to lift restrictions ,
    and open things up again

They'll rue that day for long time.

The day they left 12,000 cases mutating and spreading again.

Sadly Aussie is suffering from yoyoitis to,
or at least the east coast states are.

Now Queensland , having tried to open up to quickly to some things ,
has Brisbane basically in lockdown while they try to trace any victims of the new English fast spreader.

    Here's another lesson .
The carrier , from England , was quarantined in New South Wales before traveling to Queensland.

    Now the problem is ,
they were only quarantined for 10 days.

    That's just stupidly risky ,
espescially when your already trying to open things to fast anyway.

It is known that this virus can be infectious for up to at least 14 days , after the last contact.

So a ten day only quarantine is just asking for problems.
(and that has to mean their last test had to be at least on only day nine)
No wonder they're for ever yoyoing.

We don't even do the second test untill 12 days in
(or for some soon it will be the third test)

Now they have to consider ,
they can not be sure there are no more cases
untill they pass the 14 day mark after the last known contacts ,
and that holds for every new community case they find.

and remember it is the fast spreader variant

      About Aussie quaranti

      quote:
So why was she allowed to leave hotel quarantine?
Until recently, people who tested positive to Covid-19 while in hotel quarantine could leave once they had no symptoms for three days, and at least 10 days had passed since they delivered the positive test.

That's in contrast to the mandatory 14 days - based on the life cycle of the virus - in place for travellers who do not contract the virus.

      *
Under those old guidelines, which were in place since March 21, travellers with a mild case of Covid-19 did not need to return a negative test before leaving hotel quarantine.

      ***
this just dose not make sense
It fly's in the face of what is known about this virus
      in every way

      [ that's what it's the Aussie Quaranti
it's a quarantine you have , without having full quarantine ]

My sister in law who is a former nurse and now hospital administrator has helped vaccinate all front line staff at a hospital here.

660 vaccinations in three days and because she is not frontline she does qualify for a vaccination yet.

    Goed gedaan!

You assume a fact not in evidence.
    Shooter does not have dementia.
Where are the mentally challenged on your priority list?
That might get you your shot sooner.
(by the way, isn't setting priorities for who gets vaccinations ........... when they finally start that is ............. a sort of rationing of medical care that you have accused the US health care system of?)

I think the Netherlands was the last EU nation to start vaccinations. I've read quite a few stories that accuse the Dutch government of screwing it up.

    Later than all!
One wag called Netherlands the village idiot of the European Community.

On a different note news out of Florida is that stem cells were used experimentally to treat Covid, and of the volunteers under 65, all were rapidly and completely cured, of the over 65 volunteers, over 90% were quickly cured.

Approval to fast track the experiment is being sought.

Yeah , I heard work on that was being done a while ago ,
including here , and I'm sure I remember correctly , some in conjunction with overseas experts.
(yes , we do have world class and renowned medical experts and research facikities , in many fields , and many working overseas to)

Haven't heard much about it lately , but that's the kiwi way. They beaver away diligently , quietly , and don't say much until they've proved and tested things.
Also of course , they don't need to rush those types of things here , because we have it unde control other ways.

Anyway , that is great news.

I know early results here had had similar results in trail testing , but that was the last heard , and quite some time ago.

Anything that helps battle this scourge is to be applauded

Yes, Kiwis do have world class medicos and facilities. One of thr residents on Shooters surgical team trained in New Zealand.

He noted that Kiwis blood circulates the opposite of northern hemisphere citizens. :D

Ive been wondering how they were getting in with the development of a covid breathalyser test.

Tonight I see Indonesia has started using them.
Not very reliable yet , but got to be better than nothing , or nowhere near enough.

It only takes 80 seconds to produce results.

You blow in the bag , then they plug the blow tube into an electronic sniffer ,
and it gives a negative or positive reading.

It is not very good at distinguishing between covid and some other ailments ,
    but a good start ,
and surely greatly reduces the number needing further testing ,
    and ,
there and then , on the spot.

I knew a few have been working on it , again , including here , but nothing about it for a long time.
Hope it proves a handy tool in practice.

The world needs to be able to test more much faster , with these new variants .
    ( 5 known I think now)

We now have 19 of the English fast spreader imports , and 1 of the South African ,
    in quarantine )

It is time to slow down our import rate , before it overwhelms our boarder workers.
    But
once again our government will be
    "watching developments"
    again
and likely not get to taking the inevitable action , untill something goes wrong ,
and it bites then on the butt

Really bloody stupid , when you think about it logically.
After all , after all this time on restricted border traffic ,
what real actual difference will slowing it down to a manageable safer number for a few weeks.
    F A
Give the overworked staff a chance to breath untill the vaccine arrives at least.

If they start catching the fast spreaders ,
we'll be in real trouble ,
    or
the border will have to shut down completely.

As of yesterday, more than 265,000,000 tests for COVID-19 have been administered in the US, and test results are available 1-2 days after the lab receives the specimen.

Tests are free to everyone, through local health control systems.

Don’t know where that could be stumbles, the facts don’t say that.

      Ah, Michigan

And NBCs numbers are off a tad, we’re way over 180,000,000 tests administered, and the CDC states that 1-2 days is an average waiting time for results.

    Here we go
highly at risk of to little to late
    Yet Again.

    . * * * * *
Covid-19: Lockdown expected if UK or South African variant found in community - Shaun Hendy
Almost a quarter of the country's live cases are now the UK variant with that amount expected to increase.
    all in manager isolation quaratine
    .
    * * *

There is an increased risk of community transmission from the UK strain of Covid-19 that is now arriving in the country, says epidemiologist Michael Baker.
    *
There were 31 new imported cases of Covid-19 reported today.

    * * *

    3 minutes ago ;
Nearly 200 more international fishermen have made their way to Christchurch, with some testing positive for Covid-19 on arrival.

In an update from the Ministry of Health, it said the group of Ukrainian and Russian mariners arrived on Wednesday last week.

Eleven of them tested positive for Covid-19 and have been transferred to a quarantine facility in Christchurch.

    * * *

Covid-19: MIQ nurses concerned about staffing, instability at border facilities

    Oh , they've finally noticed.
So fucking do something real about it.
    Now.
    Not Tomorrow.

    * * *

NZ Covid risk 'almost never been higher'

    No shit Sherlock ?

So what did I say above yesterday .
Do they need a fucking updated map with GPS predictions and a radar alarm to remind them ?

If this government dosen't wake the fuck up quickly ,
and goes back to being Muppets acting like bunnies again ,
    it will be to late.

We WILL be back in deep shyte

    likely deeper than ever before.

Shut the fucking borders down , NOW ,
at least for a few days ,
and re-evaluate the developing situation ,
and reopen with reduced risk to border staff.

    Surprise surprise ,

professors and other medical experts are calling on the government to act now , not to late ,
and consider closing our borders to at least the countries worst effected by the new fast spreader.
Their quite strong demands for NZ ,
where interference in government by other authorities is frowned upon in most cases.
    But definitely justified now.

And , in yet another exposé
After being continuously told our vaccines will arrive in early to mid March ,

It turns out they are not due before mid April "at least"
Which in poli speak translates to "unlikely before at least May"

All the more reason to cut down the risky imports.

There's already warnings about the continual and ongoing stress on border and quaratine staff.

And there is rising calls for the government to fly in enough vaccines to protect border workers.
Why do they even need to be told ?

Princess Jacinda's crown is very tarnished and dillapidated already .
It'll fall apart completely if she's dosen't up her game
(this government has almost completely failed to deliver on promises for the whole of their last term , 3 years , and already this term.
and with continuous exposé of failings , misleading information etc ,
we are beginning to worry about just how much other governance information is wrong and misleading )

Hmm, mine is scheduled for January 31st, after all the front line medical people. My granddaughter in law got hers two weeks ago, she’s a critical care physician. My grandson, her husband, got his Friday, he’s a physician also.

My sister in law got hers sometime last week, she’s a laboratory supervisor. Hope y’all catch up.

Lets hope they develop it as quickly as the Covid vaccination then.
Maybe you can get them both at the same time.
As slow as the Netherlands is getting those vaccinations out, you've got a good chance of getting them both at the same time.

No excuse for the confusion and lack of organization getting the shots into the arms of the people.. Our federal and state governments knew for months a vaccine was coming, this isn't a surprise to anyone.

The specifics are a lot different than previous vaccines. First it two shots, not one. Next, some vaccines are very fragile, need special handling and storage. These conditions have not been know for months.
