What you might not know about iron is how lazy and stubborn it really is. But I can tell you that iron is so lazy and stubborn it won’t even budge until it moves all at once and when it does you better not be in front of it.
You could see that today when they are moving our rig from the well we just drilled to the one we’ll start tonight sometime. And those boys are fighting that stubbornness with trucks and ¾ inch steel cables, and sledge hammers and pipe wrenches 36 inches long. Its actually cloudy, windy and hot. They are literally eating dust and they are throwing every ounce of their bodies down on those pipe wrenches and swinging those sledge hammers hard enough to break the handles in them.
You’ll hear voices but just profanity, every kind of sexual reference you’ll find on XNXX, grand insults and mock challenges from fights to cock sucking contests. There an occasional directive UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT THE OTHER RIGHT MOTHER FUCKER. And all that’s while what ever the trucks aren’t moving the roughnecks are dragging, carring (at least 125 pounds on your end) and wrestling into position, grab a BFH (big fucking hammer) and apply the heat to it enough to persuade it to move.
The one thing you won’t hear is anyone telling them what to do because they are roughnecks and professionals in their field thank you very much.
Oh but as for me I’m back in the air conditioned motel room because I’m not a roughneck any more I’m MWD and if I hang around any actual work like that for too long I start to get all itchy and break out in a rash and stuff.
