It hit me like a ton of bricks, as soon as you said something... The one book (at least) really made an impact too, since I was way to young to be reading it, at the time (which is kind of funny, since I'm betting that it's a really tame story in today's world).
The details are really fuzzy now, though. It's been so long... as a matter of fact, I can't really remember anything about it, except the character name (after you reminded me) and vague uneasiness.

Oh, either my mother or I still have the book(s) - it was a trilogy - and furthermore, the author's daughter wrote a couple of follow ups about Cija's duaghter, with Cija featuring in them. She wasnt a very proactive character, things just kind of happened to her and she endured and often enjoyed them all..... hardly a modern day heroine, but I envied her adventures. #sigh# happy days I guess I was early or mid teens when I read it?
