  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

And every single post you ever make is a reminder that nothing you say can ever be considered remotely credible.

    You're a fucking idiot.

First of all, the Roman Catholic Church wasn't invented. It was split from the original Church.

Secondly, the Roman EMPIRE never embraced Christianity. Learn history, you stupid schmuck.

Look in a fucking mirror you WOW warrior loser.

    Good point.

People showing their religious beliefs on a porn site message board. Taking a break from bukkake, orgy, and pissing videos. :excited:

I am not a atheist, but not a Christian. But I don't feel like I do anything different during Christmas time than my Christian friends.

Do you EVER listen to your own advice?

In 380, Christianity became the state religion of the Roman Empire by the decree of the Emperor, which would persist until the fall of the Western Empire, and later, with the Eastern Roman Empire, until the Fall of Constantinople. During this time (the period of the Seven Ecumenical Councils) there were considered five primary sees according to Eusebius: Rome, Constantinople, Antioch, Jerusalem and Alexandria, known as the Pentarchy.

I take part in most Christian holidays despite being a pretty ardent Atheist. I believe we can't tell for sure if there's some God or Deity but that there probably isn't. Same way that there might be Mole People living in secret Cave-Bases on a planet orbiting Vega but it's pretty silly to believe in them with absolutely no evidence.

Despite that, ritual and shared celebrations are something modern atheist, capitalist culture lacks and I believe that the Christian Church (in all its forms except those crazy American fundie ones) is such a force for good, and is such an integral part of European culture and history, that I wish to see it continue. There simply isn't anything that can replace that role right now and society needs shared experiences and culture to survive and thrive. Look at the Poppy which has become, almost, more important than the thing it commemorates because it fills a void where religious rite and ritual used to be.

the Poppy is not filling a ritual need. It is done in honour of the fallen.

As for Christianity being a "force for good".. granted, Christianity did do a great job preserving reading and writing. Provided you were a member of the church. What seems to be consistently "forgotten" or ignored is HOW Christianity became the dominant faith in Europe. That is for another topic.
Christmas is for Christians, as Ramadan is for Muslims and Hanukah is for Jews.
If you proclaim yourself to be an atheist you are being hypocritical if you celebrate Christmas, at least in my books.

It's not at all strange. Its a lot like being Jewish on Christmas, or Christian on Diwali. You dont feel like you're missing out or oppressed or anything. Now being religious on someone else's religious holiday has ben known to be uncomfortable. So much so that some people of different faiths have expressed so much offense at feeling excluded that the mere mention of the name of common North American holidays in many retail establishents is now curtailed.

The Poppy started out as a memento of the Great War, yes, but you only have to look at the very public savaging of public personalities who don't wear one to see how it's transcended its status and become an integral part of British (and Commonwealth) culture and ritual (the ritual of buying and wearing a poppy- not incense and temples but still a ritual).

I believe that segregating celebration is bad form- if a Jew wants to spend Christmas with his friends, who are Christian, and take part in the festivities then why shouldn't he? I expound upon that by separating the ritual and shared joy of garishly-lit trees, obscene amounts of food and home-knitted jumpers from belief in some sort of omnipotent creator-god. Ritual/celebration/shared culture is one of the most important parts of society and, currently, there are few Atheist alternatives to Christian (and other religions, but I live in a christian country) events. The ones that exist are generally little known or deliberately pejorative- Draw Muhammad Day was one short-lived example.
