Feeling more then a little neglected.

 

In a lousy mood, resqued a dog 3 years ago this July, share him with someone close and he lives with them, I see him daily though. After 10 years of abuse and hell, he finally had it made since I took him from his past owner, home cooked food, tons of attention, walks, just spoiled rotten like all pets should be by the both of us who care for him now.

Now he's going blind and bumping into things, has kidney problems that are usually lethal, he's starting to fight me now hydrating him every other day. Today was the first day he fought so much I couldn't do it, I can't handle a dog yelp in pain. If that hydration stops, he dies. Tomorrow taking him in and let the vet do it, but that's not an option every other day.

After what he's been thru in his past, the last thing I want is him thinking I'm hurting him like the first owner did, with that friggin damn needle I have to stick in his back.
I ex strength ambesol the area, ice it, then do it, it was going great for awhile. He only trusts two people in his life right now, me and his other caretaker. I don't want him thinking he's down to one.

Never again will I resque anymore dogs/ cats, BTDT to many times and can't do it anymore.

 

Wiped. Thinking about going to sleep.

 

That is very sad and heartbreaking. I've had to euthanize pets before when they got sick. It's never an easy decision to make. But the reality of life is that every living creature only lives for so long.

You need to take time to grieve for your dog. And just think, if you hadn't rescued him, he certainly wouldn't have lived the past 3 years and experienced love...maybe you'll change your mind about rescuing another one.

Only taking him in tomorrow for the hydration in the back, not to be put down yet.
So long as he's having quality of life and wants to live we'll be more than happy to care for him and make him as happy as possible, and he still does.
The vet, (or we) inject an 18 ga. needle in his back and fill the area between his skin and body with 150 ml of fluid, it takes about 3-5 mins. I have him settled now at every other day to do it. What that does is help flush his body out of the toxins the kidney is building up in his system. Now he's fighting getting that done which puts me, and him in a bad spot.

He was hospitalized in early May and we almost lost him. I got him to bounce back pretty good afterwards with a special diet I made him because he refused all other kidney specialty foods, along w/ the vets help on everything else involved.
The last thing I want to eventually do is what you though we were going to do. Had to do that 3 times already, yeah it's the worst day of your life doing it that's for sure.
He's cost us about 4K each so far, money I don't really have, but I'd rather do without some things because money couldn't buy what he gives back in return, and I'd do it all over again for him.

I know so many great people that spoiled their little ones like we do, but after losing them they won't get another. It's unfortunate because so many of them are out there and need the help, love and a good home.
Right now, if we do lose him soon I won't be doing anymore resques for quite awhile. When and if he's ready soon, they let you know when it's time. So far he's not ready, he enjoys every aspect of his life to much even though he's sick.

 

irritated with some of the ignorant bigots in the world, specifically those on this site at the moment. And while i realize its not especailly "mature" or "civilized" i feel the need to bite the self-righteous, racist, sexist, hypocritical bible thumpers. I have a lot of patience but even i have limits!!!
