The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I like bourbon better... Used to drink Jack Daniels, but then was introduced to Makers Mark, then Knob Creek. I've even found that Evan Williams is quite nice. Don't really drink them like I used to, now it is mostly a single sipping shot before I go home.

My favorite at the moment is Canadian rye whiskey. Forty Creek Barrel select. If not, I'll go for a Wisers or Gibson finest.
Scotch Whiskey (Blended) Ballantines or Bells. (Single malt) Glenmorangie.
Irish whisky (notice the spelling) I'll go for a Bushmills.
I never acquired a taste for American corn whiskey. In a pinch I might be convinced to tip back a couple shots of Tennessee Whiskey.Jack Daniels or Wild Turkey.
Bourbon to me can best be described as something like Tennessee whiskey but rather than charcoal filtered more like strained through someone's old boxer shorts.

Good summary but it depends on whether you like fruity malts, smoky malts or coastal malts.........whichever you like do not buy anything less than 15 years old. I like fruity whiskey so any malt from Speyside is good! Blends I like Grouse, J&B or Hankey Bannister.

If you go for Irish then Black Bush is an excellent blend and superior to most malts offered by Bushmills.

I find Bourbon too sweet and Tennessee whiskey has given me a mother and father of a hangover on a few occasions. There is also good whisky now from Japan and Australia!

I never could get by the smell of any whiskey.
Rum I can drink, beer is good, whiskey is better used to disinfect a wound.

A Russian that likes Vodka, didn't see that one coming ...

Crown Royal, a really good and smooth Canadian whisky is good enough for me if I ever drink but there are some seriously pricey ones in my bar for when friends come over if they want ... and YA they always want lol.

CC or Canadian Club is another good blend and as Suzy said you can't go wrong with Gibson Finest another really good Canadian whisky made in Gimli Manitoba

I know price is no object for some but if you like Crown Royal, I find Forty Creek very similar maybe even superior and a lot easier on the pocket book. For me the good thing about Canadian Club is you can find just about anywhere in the World. When south of the border in order to make it simple for the bartender rather than ordering a rye and ginger ale I ask for a 7&7. (Seagrams 7 and seven-up.)

The Crown Apple is good for shots at the pool. Cheap enough to share with the crew.

I talked with "FortyCreek John" at the Calgary Whisky Festival last year and they are a fledgling producer that do put out a good Canadian product. I am a fan of anything Canadian so will put all types in my bar for people to enjoy and yes they like it BUT they like the Crown more lol. It's funny how money is no object when they aren't paying for it lol.

Jack Daniels is our go to whiskey and you can triage with it if needed .
Gunpowder is another way to cauterize a wound but it hurts like hell and is highly dangerous but can save a life . Never attempt it on anything other than a flesh wound .

We have drank with Canadians in the past and I find it odd that they ask for rye and coke where we ask for whiskey and coke .

Whiskey is generally a European thing. Bourbon is American. When the Scottish emigrated, they settled in the Kentucky area. They made their whiskey with American grains and all, so obviously the resulting tastes changed. It is called bourbon because of where they were, Bourbon County.

Adding rye grain mash adds to flavor hence the name. Most are made with only a certain amount of rye mash but a few like Alberta Premium here is made with 100% rye mash as is Canadian Club. It is a little harsh to me but I am not a seasoned drinker so my appreciation levels are lower than some others.

Don't quote me on some of what I said as I am going from what people have told me over the years while discussing the free drinks I serve them LOL.

AND thanks for your service military dude.

So I just watched a news article about a distillery that makes whisky and while it ages in oak barrels they make duplicate batches of each blend and one is a control batch and the other is identical except it has music pumped into it ...

Part of the secret to fine whisky is how the blend moves in and out of the oak through expansion and contraction over the years so the thinking is that the vibrations MAY help that along.

They have the "Nutcracker" on one, "Led Zeppelin" on another, "Michael Jackson" on another and so on ...

Nearly every blind taste test done has suggested that they may be onto something and save a few they always picked the blend with the music in it.
