    The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

    I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

    Been cool and a bit rainy but supposed to warm up for the weekend and then cool off again. Highs of 23 with lows of 16. Winds up to 47Kph so riding the mountains is out and kayaking the b ay might have to be.

    We've been cut off for a couple of days ,
    (along this stretch of coast , including 4 towns)
    no road access , no phones , no EFTPOS or internet , nothing , nada , zilch.

    Nothing new for us who've been around a while ,
    but you'd think with so much relying on cells and the internet nowadays ,
    they'd have some redundancy built in ,
    not relying on one main line through known flood and slip prone country , to service everything .
    Literally everything was , closed , shut down , or restricted to cash only.
    One outfit , I couldn't even make an appointment , because everything is "on line" ,
    so all they had was blank screens.
    Take a note , and we'll get back to you when we're "back up n running" :)

    Makes the so called cashless society look a bit sick.
    Fortunately I always have a stash of cash , so I'm smiling regardless.

    (where I live , by the shortest route , it is over an hour's drive , on a good day , before I'm out of the danger zone , where I can be cut off.
    In other directions it is up to two hours , or more.
    I've been 50 minutes out , and discovered I was cut off , drove back to a second option over the ranges , and got three quarters uphill , rounded a corner just in time to see a slip going over the road right in front of me , having literally just passed a car going the other way.
    A very concerned driver arrived a minute. later , worried a car was just in front of him , might be under the slip (still moving)
    No , I was able to assure him , it had passed me about 50 meters away on that corner)

      Lol , lots wonder about me I'm told .

      Just foul weather , nothing unusual , it just persisted for a couple of days , obviously dumping in some critical catchments.
      Wasn't particularly bad wind wise.
      Can rain anything up to 3 or 4 inches an hour , so that
      it just runs off the steep ranges , and floods the narrow coastal strip anywhere it dose ,
      particularly around high tide.
      Then of course , there can be slips onto the roads , or of the roads , anywhere in the hills.
      I have to climb over hills and return to sea level at least 3 times to get out of the area.

      It's just part of life , but usually only cut off for a few hours around high tides ,
      or another way out remains open

      This time no way out for the whole coast ,
      and ,
      we now know , no redundancy in our modern communication infrastructure.

      It has not even been routed above flood levels

      Might be a wake-up call for our brainiacs.
      (Talk to locals , before you spend your millions)
