After hearing so many demonstrable lies from Trump, I've just got to wonder exactly when he will be called on them? He attended a really for Ted Cruz in Houston, claiming there were 50000 people in attendance outside the event. In subsequent new stories, Trump's people used a photo from a rally for the Cleveland Cavs, for the second time claiming it was from his event.

Donald Trump’s supporters trust the president for accurate information more than their own friends and family, according to a new poll.

CBS News asked more than 2,000 Americans who they turn to for accurate information, regardless of whether they agree with the source's views. Ninety-one per cent of strong Trump supporters said they turned to the president. Only 63 per cent said they looked to their friends and family...

According to a Washington Post tally updated at the end of May, Mr Trump had made more than 3,200 false or misleading claims in the past 497 days.

 

I know it's not really a lie, if you never believed it in the first place, but is it a lie to claim you believe it, when it's not only false, but impossible?

 

Saying something does not require belief or anything else. Saying something that you know is false is all that is required. Belief means nothing!

 

The left never had a problem with 8 years of Obama lies....

You can argue those tired points until you are blue in the face, you have allowed Trump's lies from day one, when he lied about the number of people at his inauguration. Or when you use a photo of a Cleveland Cavs rally, Not once but twice, and claim it is a photo outside of your rally...

And in case you missed it, Benghazi has been investigated multiple times. Nothing was there.

 

Donald Trump lies. A lot.

According to an article from The Washington Post from November, he lies an average of 5.5 times per day. That's a lotta lies.

Does this mean Trump is an honest man who can be trusted, or that you don't care that a dishonest untrustworthy man is President? Asking for a friend who thinks it has to be one or the other.

 

To "conservatives" lying is always acceptable because their entire political ideology is based on the lie of conservatism as it is preached and practiced in this nation where they preach some things and practice the opposite. And their "values" are based entirely on who is president. So the things they demonized President Obama for eight years over things like "lying" the deficit, and debt. But as soon as Trump got elected they don't have a problem with lying, the deficit, the debt, or the highest levels of presidential and government corruption in modern history.

And they do not simply "accept" Trump's lies. They pretend they actually believe them and swear by them even though Trump constantly contradicts himself which puts them in the position of claiming they believe one thing one day and then claim the believe the opposite a few days or weeks later.

And these foundational lies are so entrenched they will also deny their own words when present3ed with them.

There's a sliding scale that has to be applied in this kind of case. It's basic biology. When you smell food cooking, you'll feel hungry. If not for the smell, you might have gone another hour or more and not thought of food. When we were hunter gatherers, it was the body's way of making you get off your ass and go catch something to eat. That was more useful in the days before Waffle House.

A similar mechanism is at work for sex. Any woman who is perceived to be available, becomes more attractive. It's perfectly fine to dim the lights, squint your eyes, and say, "You are so hot."

 

This is just such a timely thread because we can see this happening right now before our very eyes.

One constant from the very beginning of his presidency and its worse now is Trump will blurt out a stupid lie and then the White House and his administration have to scramble to get out there and try to support the lie.

Which is exactly what is happening right now. Trump tells the lie there are "mid easterners" i.e. terrorists in the Caravan, And his enablers have to scramble and back up the lie including VP Mike Pence who went on TV to claim "it is unconscionable that there are not mid-easterners in the Caravan." And then the next day Trump admits its just a lie and he has no proof of what he said.

Leaving Pence and other members of his administration to prove they are just lying fools.

And if you really watch Trump and his administration this is the norm. Not the exception.

 

There are times when a lie might be acceptable for reasons of national security, such as a train crash that was clearly an accident and not a terrorist plot to detonate a nuclear weapon in a major city that was derailed in the middle of Montana, or a President on a week long rest for his health and not because he was shot full of thorzine to prevent him from starting World War III during one of his more delusional moments.

It is NOT acceptable for lying to be the normal way of doing daily business in the highest (And what is supposed to be the most but is fast becoming the least) respected public office we have to bestow.

This may be common practice for business, but if it is I would rather go back to running the country as a political entity than doing it like a bunch of profit and loss statements.

 

Is it acceptable to lie about a domestic terrorist attack?

Because that is what Trump and the White House just did. No sooner than the news broke that bombs had been sent to Clinton, Obama, CNN, and now Debbie Wassermann Schultz there were reports of a suspicious package found in the White House mail room. Which was nothing more than an attempt to distract and deflect and make it look like they are under attract too. Even though the Secret Service can't go along with a lie like that and had to admit the report is false.

There is no low Trump and his enablers will not stoop to.

 

There is a book What Would Machiavelli do? which is a comedy. Anyway, it talks about bullshit and Donald Trump. Donald Trump slings bullshit. He does not even see it as lying. Salesman sling BS. They do not expect to be President.

If I had a chance not to hurt someone with the truth and no bad would come out of it, I would "lie". This does not mean to cover me ass.
