When I was younger I did believe that blacks were unoffending victims of irrational color prejudice. After a while I got tired of making excuses for them.

Now sure, there are decent blacks. I have come to believe, however, that by and large blacks are a lawless and irresponsible group of people. I am fairly confident that mine is the unspoken white consensus. Even those who pretend to disagree with me behave as though they know that what I say is true. White liberals rarely send their children to predominately black public schools. They usually avoid black neighborhoods, especially after dark.

There are plenty of white liberals in Washington, DC. The public school system is the best financed public school system in the United States. It is also 85% black. When white liberals in Washington, DC have children they nearly always send them to private schools, or move to white suburbs.

 

Thank you for absolutely failing to demonstrate that you can hold a thought in your head other than the dogma you cling to so very, very tightly. You didn't even try to make the case from any other perspective! Any critically thinking person ought to dismiss your nonsense out of hand based on this intellectual vacuum alone.

Yes. It sure did change the way I felt about blacks. It made me recognize facts I had been trying to ignore. Nevertheless, I have always known blacks that I liked.

I have white friends and black friends and relatives who have been the victim of violent crime. It was always blacks who did it.

Nevertheless, it is true that blacks have a rate of violent crime that is eight times the white rate. That fact exists independently of how you or I feel about blacks.

Here again, you are responding emotionally. I am responding with facts. It is easy for you to say that my opinions are "dogma," "nonsense," and so on. You have not proven it. You have not explained why everywhere in the world blacks live they have high crime rates and low IQs. You have not explained why white liberals in Washington, DC don't send their children to the DC public schools system.

 

Black people tend to be poorer on average. White people at the same level of poverty have the same rate of crime. Black people at higher income levels have the rate of crime that white people at those income levels have.

It's poverty that causes crime, not skin.

 

And that still wont protect you from the obvious - you are incapable of presenting any opposing viewpoint, because your dogma is soooo deeply embedded. Every time I ask a specific thing that has nothing to do with factual debate - and you continue to pile on stats and reports in support of your predisposition, you only re-inforce my contention. I keep waiting for someone to explain why four decades after the civil rights legislation was signed blacks still have high crime rates and tend to do poorly in school. How much longer are we going to have to wait before they behave and perform as well as whites, and Orientals?

By the way, I still support the civil rights legislation of the 1960s, but I am terribly disappointed with the black response to that legislation. I have difficulty understanding how any rational person could not be disappointed.

I would consider a dogma to be a strong opinion that exists despite facts that discredit it. You have not presented any facts that discredit my opinions about blacks. My opinions of blacks is based on my personal experience, and also on fairly wide reading. I get tired of restating those facts, you have not refuted one of them.

 

If I wanted to waste a lot of time I could compose a politically correct argument claiming that The Bell Curve is pseudoscience, and that at some undisclosed time in the future black IQs will go way up, and their crime rates will go way down.

I hardly see any point in it. You might as well ask me to present an opposing argument to the theory of evolution.

BTW, Charles Darwin agreed with me about the biological nature of racial differences.

 

Seems like you have lost a step or two if you believe what the man said was anything near bigotry. Or perhaps you're just another lemming in an overly sensitive society. Who knows.

What I do know, and you should know, is that bigotry is a view of certain people/peoples that is irrational. There is nothing irrational in being nervous when you see a muslim board a plane. In fact, recent events considered, it is logical and perfectly reasonable to be nervous. Is it likely that the muslim you see has a bomb? No. Is it hateful to be slightly nervous when he boards the plane? No.

It is perfectly ironic because we have a society that is starting to become the London fog of the 21st century. We suffer under a lack of honesty and attempt to remedy the problem by damning those who do speak honestly(so long as their honesty doesn't agree with us).

If you believe what he said was evil, or hateful, or deserving of punishment, you really have lost the plot, and we really have become imitation children. Overreaction is the only reaction.

 

What Juan Williams said on FOX he said as a citizen. He was not at the time doing his job for National Public Radio.

You certainly undermine your intelligence, if you deny that Moslems on planes have a reputation for doing dangerous things.

 

Nor is there anything irrational in crossing the street to avoid three scruffy looking young black men after dark when they are the only people one shares an environment with. Race profiling is rational. I wish more police officers practiced it. In New York city the police practice racial profiling vigorously. This has contributed to New York's low crime rate. This race profiling is approved of by nearly every New Yorker who is not black or Hispanic.

White liberals who live in Washington, DC, and who refuse to send their children to the nearly all black public school system are also behaving rationally. I just wish they were not hypocritical about it.

DC public schools are the best financed in the United States. The problem with them is not the physical plant, the administrators, or the teachers.

Your problem, as always, is that you're incapable of considering human beings individually rather than as part of a group. When you say that Muslims have a "reputation" for doing dangerous things, it's people like you who try very hard to give them that reputation. I would venture a semi-educated guess that the vast majority of Muslims haven't ever done the slightest dangerous thing on an airplane in their lives.

 

That's a reflection on you, not on Muslims.

 

The fact that you're terrified of Muslims has nothing to do with the question of whether or not Muslims pose any danger to you. Your fear is irrational.
