Do you have pets?

I do, always have. Always have a dog in the house, and grew up with cats. (I’m not so much anti-cat as I am anti-litter box.)

Here’s my baby:




She’s a registered Old English bulldog, and a mushfaced sweetie.

So, whatcha got? Dogs? Cats? Birds? Snakes?

What critters do you share your life with?

 

I thought this was a rhetorical qustion.

But now I see.

Rusty. A beagle. But he's not my baby. He's my buddy. And every bit as big as an asshole as I am. And we have put down a lot of tracks together. But I give up on thinking I have him figured out.

I have a rescue cat. Her name is Tiny.

 

I have a Norwegian Elkhound named Buddy. Our perimeter watchdog. And a black cat named Chairman Meow. He's a dick. And the dog is trained to bite. But the cat does it on his own. And no I don't have pix.

2 cats. I like dogs too, but cats are so much easier to care for.

And the dog...Leida.

I had a hobby farm years ago, and my kiddo was out at the end of the lane with the wheelbarrow, picking up weeds I'd pulled earlier.

Next thing I know, trundling down the lane comes the kiddo with what I thought had to be roadkill. Floppy ragdoll all legs and orange tufts, turned out it was a male marmalade. He'd just flopped down in the gravel and was laying there, probably ready to die, he was so emaciated. He got scooped up and put on the bed of weeds, and taken for a grand ride down the lane.

Kiddo sez, "Mom! I found a cat! Can we keep him?" knowing full well I am a right sucker for a stray.

First thing I did was get a dropper and some water and try to get him hydrated, and realized he was going to need to lose some of those teeth.

I don't know how many vet bills later, Charlie found a home with friends. But every time I see an eyedropper I think of Charlie.

 

Buddy my ass.

Rusty gets treats about 3 and 6. Just a jerky kind of stick and then a milk bone. And the little fucker can tell time. And recognizes the voices on MSNBC to make sure of the time. But I am the only one who feeds him his treats.

And let's say I just happened to get distracted on the internet. Say about 6. And he gives me maybe one collar shake if I am late.Then the little rat fink will go out and sit at my wife's feet and stare at her until she tells me to get off the internet and give Rusty his treat.

But the thing that gets me is the reason he rats my ass out like that sometimes is because he knows he can.

He and my wife get a kick out of it.

 

Suzie, beagle-basset mix. She was the runt at the shelter the day we stopped by, and since the others kept pushing her away from the food dish, she came over to the gate to see who we were.

Charlie and Missy, beagle brother and sister, the shelter wanted to find someone willing to keep them together.

Mickey, a miniature red dachshund, the neighbors up the street had him and quit taking care of him, so he adopted us.

Bubba, a black dachshund mix, next door neighbors moved out and left him.

All the best friends anyone could ask for. I miss them.

 

No, we need to see the waivers of their permission to post their images.

And all the paw prints better be legible.

I suspect you caught them when they were not looking.

 

Georgia wanted to know if anyone liked or commented on her photo.

She tried to insist on using her registered name as a handle, but I talked her out of it.
