'Neener-neenerism': Analyst shreds GOP's 'stupid and gross' conditions to fund Israel

House Republicans, lead by newly minted Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), are demanding that the cost of the aid package to Israel be "offset" by $14 billion in cuts to IRS enforcement funding guaranteed in President Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act — which is not only unrelated to the issue at hand, but some say it would actually increase the deficit by roughly $90 billion.

The fact that Republicans are demanding an increase in tax evasion as their condition of supporting a key U.S. ally's military is not an accident, argued Talking Points Memo's Josh Marshall on MSNBC Tuesday, but a sign of how low the GOP has sunk.

"I have to say, Josh, like, Mike Johnson rolling out, going after the IRS on a must-pass is past even a caricature, I can imagine, of a priority from the Republican House speaker," said anchor Chris Hayes. "Were you surprised?"

"Yeah, I kind of was," said Marshall. "You know, I have pretty low expectations of the new speaker, but you know, the thing that differentiates him from a lot of the Freedom Caucus — he's just as right-wing, he's extremely right-wing, but he's not another one of these Republicans who's, you know, going on Twitter and sharing Pepe the Frog memes, right? He's just a little more genial, he's a little softer. So, I expect that he would try to maybe get past this hurdle a little more gracefully. But as you said, this is kind of like a caricature. It doesn't even save money."

"It's almost, you know, Republicans increasingly, is almost a philosophical basis of this is sort of like neener-neenerism, right?" Marshall continued. "It's just like oh, you want that? You have to make it easier to cheat taxes and we are holding the football, so you've got to come to us."

"Like, it's not even when — it seems stupid and kind of gross in a way that I think a pretty broad cross-section of the electorate would see it that way," added Marshall. "You know, aid for Israel and Ukraine is not just like liberal issue in this country. There's a lot of people who are pretty engaged with this. So, it did surprise me."

Questions swirl about Mike Johnson's finances as he reports no bank account in his name

Newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has already drawn scrutiny for his past espousal of Biblical literalist beliefs and his role in trying to obstruct the certification of the 2020 presidential election.

But another question is swirling around him, reported The Daily Beast: the state of his personal finances.

"Over the course of seven years, Johnson has never reported a checking or savings account in his name, nor in the name of his wife or any of his children, disclosures show. In fact, he doesn’t appear to have money stashed in any investments, with his latest filing — covering 2022 — showing no assets whatsoever," reported Roger Sollenberger, noting that he probably does have a bank account, but just doesn't have enough money in it to trigger reporting requirements.

"House Ethics Committee filing guidelines state that members must disclose bank accounts they have at every financial institution, as long as the account holds at least $1,000 and the combined value of all accounts — including those belonging to their spouse and dependent children — exceeds $5,000," the report continued.

This appears to back up previous exclusive reporting by Raw Story, which found that Johnson disclosed no assets, and only reported debts including a mortgage, personal loan, and home equity line of credit — all despite his $174,000 congressional salary and around $30,000 in income from teaching at the far-right evangelical school Liberty University.

"It’s strange to see Speaker Johnson disclose no assets,” Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) communications director Jordan Libowitz told The Beast. “He made over $200,000 last year, and his wife took home salary from two employers as well, so why isn’t there a bank account or any form of savings listed?”

He noted that if Johnson's financial situation is this poor, it would leave him open to exploitation and manipulation.

You just gotta love despicable propaganda logic.
Trump is a BILLIONAIRE so he's subject to being bribed, they spewed, as he came down the escalator.
Now we have Mike Johnson, who by all accounts has few or no assets that have to be reported, and being that poor, to hear the despicables tell it, makes him susceptible to bribery.
Shooter suspects some despciable projection going on here. After all, their queen, Nancy Antoinette, is the insider trading poster child for Congress, eh?

What is Mike Johnson's net worth and salary?
Mike Johnson is an American politician who has a net worth of $100,000. Mike Johnson vaulted to national recognition in October 2023 when he was elected Speaker of the House. He was elected to that role on October 25, 2023 after the ouster of former speaker Kevin McCarthy and failed attempts at several other Republicans, notably Jim Jordan, to be chosen.

Mike Johnson was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016, serving Louisiana's fourth Congressional district. During his years as a member of Congress he supported a national abortion ban, contested the results of the 2020 Presidential election, both on the floor of the house and in court, is opposed to medical marijuana and is a strong advocate of entitlement reform.

    Salary and Financial Disclosure
Prior to being elected Speaker, as a standard member of the House of Representatives, Mike earned a salary of $174,000 per year. When he was elected to be Speaker of the House, his salary was increased to $223,500. In 2022 he also earned around $30,000 teaching online courses for Liberty University.

In his 2016 financial disclosure, Mike estimated his net worth to be NEGATIVE $30,000. His financial ensuing financial disclosures did not paint an improved financial picture.

In their 2022 disclosure, which was filed in August 2023, Mike and his wife reported to not have any checking or savings accounts. They likely have checking and savings accounts, but the balances are less than $5,000, which is under the limit where a disclosure would be required. In terms of assets, their 2022 financial disclosure listed literally none. As in, they reported owning no assets at all over the amount that would be required to be disclosed. On the liability side of the disclosure, the Johnsons list a home mortgage debt ranging from $250,000 to $500,000, a personal loan of $15,000 – $50,000 and a home equity line of credit ranging from $15,000 to $50,000. All three liabilities are held by Citizens National Bank.

The lack of assets is not a totally full picture. That mortgage debt is connected to a home in Benton, Louisiana that could be worth $500,000 – $600,000, according to comparable estimates. If we take the median of their debt range, that would be $375,000 remaining on their mortgage. If they sold their home for the low range of the estimated value, that would give them a net gain of $125,000, which would ultimately be an asset that we can assign to them today.

    Early Life
Mike Johnson was born on January 30, 1972 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He has three younger siblings. His father Pat was a firefighter for the Shreveport Fire Department. Pat was severely injured in a 1984 fire that killed a fellow firefighter. Pat retired from the fire department after that incident and became a HazMat consultant. Mike wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and become a firefighter, but his parents forbid it.

Mike graduated from high school in 1991 and then Louisiana State in 1995. In 1998 he earned a Juris Doctor from Paul M. Herbert Law Center.

    Law Career
Before becoming a politician, Mike practiced law for around 15 years. His most significant legal position was as the senior counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund. During his tenure with ADF, Johnson worked on various high-profile cases, often representing individuals or entities that believed their religious freedoms were being infringed upon by government actions or regulations.

In 2003 he wrote an amicus brief that opposed Lawrence V. Texas, a landmark case in which the Supreme Court struck down a Texas statute criminalizing consensual same-sex sexual activity between adults. The ruling effectively invalidated similar laws in 13 other states, making same-sex sexual activity legal in every U.S. state and territory. At the same time, through Alliance, Mike supported laws that essentially criminalized homosexuality.

    Congressional Career
A member of the Republican Party, Mike Johnson has consistently advocated for policies that emphasize limited government, fiscal responsibility, and a strong national defense. He's an ardent supporter of tax cuts and deregulation, believing that these measures spur economic growth and create jobs. His voting record reflects his commitment to these principles, as he consistently votes in line with his party's platform and the interests of his constituents.

Beyond economic issues, Johnson is a fervent defender of the First Amendment and religious liberties. Before joining Congress, he was already known for litigating religious freedom cases. This background has given him a platform to address concerns about perceived threats to religious liberty in America, making him a key figure in discussions and legislation related to these matters.

On the topic of immigration, Johnson supports securing the U.S. borders and has been vocal about addressing the issues associated with illegal immigration. He believes in a robust and efficient legal immigration system but stresses the importance of upholding the rule of law when it comes to those who enter the country unlawfully.

In addition to his individual policy stances, Mike Johnson has taken on significant leadership roles during his congressional tenure. He was elected Chairman of the influential Republican Study Committee (RSC) for the 116th Congress. The RSC is the largest caucus of conservatives in Congress, and under Johnson's leadership, it has played a crucial role in shaping the legislative agenda and policy discussions within the Republican Party.

Furthermore, Johnson's collaborative spirit has been evident through his bipartisan efforts. He co-founded the Honor and Civility Caucus, an initiative that aims to reduce the increasing polarization and partisanship in Congress. By fostering respectful dialogue and cooperation across party lines, Johnson hopes to find common ground on critical issues facing the nation.

    Personal Life
Michael married Kelly Renee Lary on May 1, 1999. They have four children: Hannah, Abigail, Jack and Will. Michael and Kelly are somewhat famously in what is called a "covenant marriage." Covenant marriages, which are only legal in three states, provide an extra level of challenge in the event one of the spouses is seeking a divorce.

Oh, and while we're on the subject of Johnson, we see that since being elected speaker of the house, Johnson has been hard at it, pushing through legislation that has been held up.

    The despicables are pissed!

House set to vote on spending bill with big Amtrak cuts, prohibition on California high-speed rail funding (msn.com)

House set to vote on spending bill with big Amtrak cuts, prohibition on California high-speed rail funding
Story by David Lassen • 1d

WASHINGTON - The House of Representatives is set to vote Wednesday on an appropriations bill that would cut Amtrak funding by more than 60% and block federal support for the California high speed rail program.

H.R. 4820, which funds the Department of Transportation and Department of Housing and Urban Development, includes in the budget for the Federal Railroad Administration the cuts proposed earlier this year by Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee. Those would reduce total spending from $2.453 billion in 2023 to $875 million, including a cut in Northeast Corridor spending from $1.25 billion to $99 million [see "House Republicans propose 64% cut to Amtrak budget …," Trains News Wire, July 12, 2023]. It also specifies that "None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available under this Act or any other Act may be provided to the State of California for a high-speed rail corridor" the same or similar to the one currently under construction.

It also maintains the proposed cut of more than 50% in Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement, or CRISI, grants from their current levels to $258.5 million, as well as other cuts in the GOP proposal.

Even if the bill passes the Republican-controlled House, it is unlikely to survive in its current form in the Democratically controlled Senate or be signed by President Joe Biden. The Biden administration issued a statement Monday in which it said it "strongly opposes House passage" of the bill, saying House Republicans "are wasting time with partisan bills that cut domestic spending to levels well below the FRA agreement" - a spending deal negotiated in May with since-deposed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy - "and endanger critical services for the American people." Specifically regarding rail spending, the statement says the administration "is concerned by the bill's lack of investment to improve the safety and efficiency of the nation's passenger and freight rail network" and opposes the provision blocking California high speed rail spending.

    Well, no surprise here.
The despicables have never met a pork bill they didn't like

Both Johnson and his wife are extremely busy trying to scrub their histories. That has become a story in itself. they obviously have a lot to hide. Such as the wife's "counseling" which reportedly includes lots of gay conversion therapy. And agreeing with her husband that gay sex should be criminalized. And comparing same sex marriage to bestiality.

Including if they are making big bucks as some claim where is it. Do they keep it in cash in their mattress? How is it they don't have bank accounts listed.

All the Bidens have bank records. And they have handed them over. So why don't the Johnsons?
