  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

At one time civil servants in France used to go on strike and their first demand was always that they be paid for the days they didn't work and it used to be given to them. Nowadays, it's totally different. Their monthly salary is now calculated on a daily basis and, if they strike on a Friday and the following Monday, they also get Saturday and Sunday knocked off. Needless to say, the number of strikes in the public sector has declined immensely.

This has got to be a trick question right?

People strike when it is most effective and when it will cause as much disruption without majorly disrupting the education the children get in the long term e.g. there are not strikes organised when major exams are taking place as that will affect the children in the very long term

However striking on the weekends and in the summer is going to affect no one and the demands of the people striking are going to be largely ignored however if a large group of people are affected by strikes (parents/carers) as a short term annoyance then things are largely going to get done because they will complain to the representatives in charge and they have to be seen to listen or risk not being elected again

I don't agree with ump often, but here I think he is pretty close to being spot on. The best teachers are not in it for the money, because the money simply isn't there. If you want to attract academics to become teachers in schools, we simply need to pay them more.

Peace! I was just tryin to be being funny. I know how hard teachers work and for less than enough money. One of my favorite High School teachers worked construction all summer and was my home room/English teacher during the school year....

We have much the same debate here in Education. Our Government - guess where on the political spectrum they come from - has recently bought into the concept of Charter Schools. Guess where that idea came from?

Charter Schools were to be the cure to the large numbers of incompetent teachers we apparently have in the public system. No Politician has pointed out exactly how many there are, and in which schools they're churning out large numbers of dysfunctional students. But it must be in the poorest areas because that's where the problems mainly lay. And of course poverty and income inequality have nothing to do with it; ask any above average income earner.

If there is one person that is not valued enough in Society - most any of the English speaking First World ones for sure - it is the Teacher. I doubt any enter that profession in search of riches. And there are others, Nurses spring to mind. Not to forget the brave men and women who serve that we may sleep safe in our beds.

About 50% can not pass the basic state test that would qualify them to teach in that state.
