Yes a lot of stuff is resolved behind closed doors, and lots of silly shit gets passed back and fourth. But this shit, this guy just wants to see how much he can fuck up an already fucked up world.

So now he has succeed in what, freedom of information, shit all he has succeed in doing is getting everyone to stop talking and communicating. Granted it is a really bunch of shit the prick was a US citizen stole the shit, sold the shit, and I would like to see him fry in the chair for the shit.

Well they've so far not charged Julian Assange with the Reichstag Fire, but they've done just about everything else they could do including arresting him and holding him without bond in the UK. They've also cut off Wikileaks flow of money or at least severely impaired it.

This appears more to me than just playing hardball with Assange and Wikileaks. This looks more like bringing the hammer down to me.

I heard that the judge became convinced he was a flight risk when he asked him for his address in the UK and he gave him a P.O. Box.

 

I'm ashamed that my country has issued a warrant for his arrest on charges that look increasingly like a fit-up.

I hope he's had the sense to hide his laptop, otherwise he'll be looking at a child-porn charge as well.

 

I think that what this really proves is no matter how powerful you think you and the internet is the powers of the US Government are far far beyond what Mr Assange and even we might think.

Something that's been bothering me in the back of my head since the first time I saw WikiLeaks is if this is something that can really be accomplished. Obviously on the one hand the governments of the world are not powerful enough to keep their secrets in the computer age.

But on the other hand they may be still powerful enough to shut you up while the world just watches.

Ok and I could be wrong about the US and other governments having enough power to shut WikiLeaks up.

While WikiLeaks founder Jullian Assange is being held without bail in the UK the sex crime charges against may actually be unraveling. Or at least one of the women involved has said she does not want to pursue the charges.

Now this is weird or maybe I just mis-remember it. But it seems to me I've heard of a group of hackers that call themselves 'Anonymous" right here on this forum but long before I ever heard of WikiLeaks.

Anyway a 16 year-old has been arrested in the Netherlands in connection with the cyber attacks by pro WikiLeaks Hacktivists on the major credit card and other wed sites.

And they are also connecting WikiLeaks and Anonymous, but like I said I thought Anonymous has been around a lot longer than WikiLeaks.

But to get back to the subject at hand, I have to confess that I'm taking some vicarious pleasure in watching Assange make the powers that be uncomfortable. It's like watching Robin Hood humiliate the Sheriff of Nottingham.

 

He's surprised me, or more accurately the changing circumstances have. It looked like it would be a pretty easy task to shut him up but that's not proving to be the case. Then the next best thing is try and discredit him as some kind of sex offender. And now that's pretty shaky.

But I'm not sure the cyber attacks are a good move.

I think that there is alot more to this than the eye can see, I think the Private did not act alone.

Unfortunately yes... And as an American I honestly do laugh at some of the stupid shit that has been released, and I am embarrassed at some of the other shit, but hell I also know that it is a matter of arrogance on the governments part that they did not protect such info better.

But this guy is no hero, he is an Anarchist plain and simple, he does not want transparency, he wants chaos. Fuck I am all for freedom of information, but when he threatens to release documents with the names of inside information sources that have maybe supplied info on the Taliban and such, so they can be killed, that I feel is criminal.

And what about his threat to begin releasing financial documents and records he has obtained on banks and such?

And now his little friends and minions want to start a "Cyber War". So what makes his cause a just cause if his minions will now start attacking financial institutions like they recently did.

 

Let's see if he makes good on his threat to release all the internal memos of one of the major banks.

No Army private did that.

It will be interesting to see just what all kinds of information get fed to WikiLeaks provided WikiLeaks and Assange survive.

What now makes his cause a just cause is...that the American goverment is now applying pressure too private companies to withhold their services or they will be punished to. Paypal have said they didnt want to evict Wiki-leaks but only did so after pressure from the American government.
