TO answer the question: Yes I would cover up AND ask the kids or the wierd ass father to take them away. I was a Boy Scout adult adviser for 5 years. The summer camp we had only had one shower for the adults and the boys to use. There was a set schedule that the boys were supposed to adhere to when showering (so as to try and avoid mixing boys and adults). Once when I was showering a scout came in to shower. I told heim that it was the adult's time to shower and he should leave. He said "Deal with it" and I got out, dressed and left. This was a CYA situation. I NEVER wanted ANYONE to say that there were any improprarties with me and the scouts. The scout was 16 or 17 and he was obviously not innocent but I wasn't going to take any chances.

Point is this: It is in the best interest of EVERY adult to cover up if an adolesent comes into view. It's YOUR ass if there is a problem. Plus -- the adult that exposes their child to a naked adult is guilty of child endangerment.

 

OK, let me get this straight... It's a 'public' shower facility, which means that anyone can walk in at any time, and you know it when you go in?

First of all, where is this place? Every place I've ever been has been, at the very least, designated as male or female. A male shouldn't have a problem showering with other males, or F-F for that matter. If you know of a place where the shower facilities are co-ed then I'd be very interested in learning it's location.

To answer your question, no, I wouldn't cover up. Why would I want to make these 'kids' think that there is something wrong with being clean? Why would I want to try to make them think that I have something that they do not?

Now, if you want to chage the question to, maybe, 'Would I close my blinds when I'm at home?' then we have a different discussion...

I was also a scout, and later a Scout Master. We also had rules in place to protect the boys, but I think you really have some problems. If tis intruder was really 16 or 17 then There was really nothing you could show him that he didn't have for himself.

My first introduction into the differences between man and boy anatomy was wen I got baptised. While I was getting dressed afterward I noticed that there are some slight differences. I promise you, and everyone else, that it was not an introduction to a homosexual seduction between me and my pastor. It was just an item to be logged in the growing-up phase of a 12 year old boy.

From my personal experience when i was a kid i got no real info on what the opposite sex looked like until i looked at my first porn video and then it gave me a very false perspective of what an actual female body looked like"aka something other then porn stars and also gave me a false perspective of what a normal sized cock is". I'd much rather have had the chance when I was a kid to see the real thing then be given that false impression again. Because of that for the longest time I thought I had the smallest cock in the world. so you all may think its gross but in reality this makes much more sense that kids find out about it that way then the way i did.

But yeah I'd finish the shower and just ignore the damn kids who gives a fuck. and in the case of the little girl the dad knew what would happen when he brought her into the mens locker/ public shower area. so its not like it matters.

To some extent I agree with you, and I'm not at all hung up about nudity...but children do need to be taught to respect other people's privacy. So while I wouldn't be frantically covering up, I would be telling the kid in no uncertain terms that he or she should take a hike.

I would have to say that I would not. The reason is that children have to learn that there is nothing wrong with the human body. To cover up whilst doing nothing sexual shows that the human body is dirty and that is wrong. Sex is an adult thing but everything else should be shown as a natural and healthy part of life. Children are naturaly curious and it is not wrong to let them explore their curiosity.

 

I agree with your cover up policy when it comes to kids 13 and under (which is what this thread is about), but teenagers are different. After all, do you know howe many high schools have open shower facilities full of naked teenage guys with coaches standing around? Hell, when I was in school, our coach used the showers when we did. It's been that way for years and no one has a problem with it.

BTW, did you know that, based on guys I've talked to over the years, scout and summer camps are one of the biggest breading grounds for first time gay sexual experiences. That means someone is peeking at someone. Maybe not in the shower, but other places.

Like many other discussions, it's interesting to see how radically different the opinions are here based on where people come from -- international or USA.

People from the USA -- where we are taught to be repressed from day one -- see it as perverted, while people from Europe -- where nudity is taught to be no big deal -- have no problem with it.

 

I don't understand why anyone would even think that having a kid get a peek of a nude adult is a bad thing. Nudity in it's self is not evil. I don't even see a reason to cover up, just turn around so that you aren't overly exposing yourself. However, if you take the opputunity to put on a live sex show in front of the kid, then shame on you!

 

In areas of Austria, there are places where Nudity is mandatory, with NO discrimination on age or sex...Now these places also have communal showers...Also who said anything about having a hard on when showering...
Here in Austria, like most of mainland Europe, Nudity is common place..There is also a park near the centre of Munich which is used for nude sunbathing, and this park is PUBLIC...

I agree. Like the OP said, we're not talking about exhibiting yourself in a sexual manner, just being in a shower doing whatever comes normally if a kid walks in.

When I was young I used to go with my parents to beaches, country clubs, etc. and used the shower in the locker room. Guys were walking around naked and showering in front of each other -- young and old alike -- all the time. No one thought anything about it. It was natural.

I even remember seeing dad's bringing their young daughters in while they changed. The girls would look out of curiosity, but then look away. No biggie. I even had those young girls my own age (5-7) see me showering nude a few times. At first it was weird but then I got used to it. So did the girls.

One girl my age used to come in with her dad a lot and saw me and the adult guys nude every time. We all got so used to it I would even talk with her while changing after my shower. She stopped coming in after she turned 7. Guess her parents figured she was too old at that point.

Now, though, because of borderline psychotoc overreactions from people like txstripper, anyone who may be nude in front of a child for any reason should have their balls cut off. She's the type of person who would work at a photomat and turn parents over to the cops if she saw an innocent photo of their kid in a tub. Seems to me people like her would be better off living in some Muslim country.

Contrary to what one person said, nudity is not sick.
That attitude only makes children as ashamed of their bodies as must be the person who said it.
It has been my experience that public bathing facilities are very strictly segregated to avoid any such occurrences.
Nevertheless, in the eyes of the law, it is the peeping tom who is usually found to be to blame.

 

Well, hey if I was taking a shower with some kids (presumably boys) around, there's no harm if they do look, but for my own privacy I'd probably tell them to quit looking. I wouldn't cover up, just tell them to beat it (not that way, you perv!)

If there was a little girl in the guy's shower, then I'd probably yell at the dad for doing letting her in, just because it's a little dangerous considering the sickos that sometimes hang out in public showers/anywhere. Also, strutting your stuff in front of other guys who've seen it before is quite different than in front of girls, especially young ones, so yeah, I'd cover up in front of a little girl. They don't need to learn the male anatomy from me!
