An interesting graph , and it seems to follow the known warming and cooling variations quite well. [Not all do]
So over 130yrs we have had a total variation of about 1 celcius ,
and the actual overall rise of about .8
Not bad for a planet coming out of a 'Little Ice Age'.

A great shame we don't have any measurements from further back , particularly from the pre little ice age , pre 1350's , when it is known the planet had a sustained warm period , so warm that the Vikings colonised Greenland and farmed stock there for hundreds of years.

I would love to know what the temperatures were then , as the evidence would suggest that it was at least as warm as now , and probably warmer.

Certainly in this area evidence is that the sea level has been about 2 feet [or 600mm] above it's present level , some time since the first humans arrived , between 800 and 1100 years ago. [and of course we know that sea levels drop during periods of glaciation , ice ages , and rise during warming periods. Nothing new in that]

Shame I wont live another fifty years to see where we go from here.
Still , if I'm lucky I might make another twenty or so .
That should give a good indication of the trend.

 

as i said earlier the use of the term "global warming" is a misnomer and is blatantly idiotic in that the whole of climate is changing
some areas are warmer than normal and some are colder than normal
over the last few years it has stabilized since the end of the CFCs but CO2s are still in massive play and pose a long term effect overall

The period since 1965 shows a gain of about 0.7 C. There is no natural cause for this climb, which is why scientists are near unanimous in ascribing this climb to human-caused climate change. By the standards of naturally occuring changes, the current trend is fast.

Ways to stop producing carbon dioxide
Stop breathing - When you exhale you release carbon dioxide
Dont drive - We all know how bad driving is
Don't live in a house/apartment/condo or any building that uses gas or electricity - Homes produce 2-3 times as much carbon as cars.
Don't wear shoes or any sort of clothing produced in a factory. Grow a cotton field and make your own clothes by hand.
Quit school - Those school buildings produce more carbon in a year then you do in 20 years.
Eat meat raw - Whether you're using gas or electric both produce carbon dioxide.
Turn off this monitor and computer - You hypocrite.
Don't use toilets, urinate or poo in your back yard.- The water to your house is cleaned and sent to your house using pumps that use electricity.
Stop exercising - Increasing your heart rate increases the amount of oxygen you take in and turn into carbon dioxide.
Die - Dying younger means you will do all of the above less. Living one year less means you will save the earth 8.4 tons of carbon dioxide every year you're not here!

Of course it's been warmer in the past than it currently is. In fact, in the dinosaur period Earth had no permanent ice most of the time.

The point is that this time it's not nature causing climate change, it's man. And if ice entirely disappears again, the rising sea levels will wipe out our big coastal cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Sydney and Melbourne, to name a few.

 

Nature has a way to balance the scales, whether we like it or not, it will eventually win against man's feebleness.

US Climate Polling shows Deniers are Losing

Gallup does an annual climate poll. Last year's poll found that 57% say that global warming is due to humans, and 39% due to natural causes; that split is well up from a 50-46 in favour of humans in 2010. Now only 41% say concerns about warming are exaggerated, down from 48% in 2010.





Even Republican skepticism is on the wane.

Is this the highest sea levels ever no is it the lowest no
Has their always.been ice caps no.
Is this just a natural heating and cooling effect of the planet.probably.....

Is this a good way to tax the fuck out of everyone and make them bend over and take it without.kicking up to much of a fuss....absolutely!

Two new items and one from sometime ago.

One. in # 26 Ridge runner said that mining, oil extraction. and etc were unbalancing the earth causing it to wobble. Oh boy would I like to see the source of that info. The Earth weighs quadrillions of tons, all the ore, oil ect extracted are totally insignificant. The Earth wobbles as a natural function, just like in 57,000 years or so Polaris will no longer be the pole star, because of planetary wobble.

Two. Rising sea level will inundate L. A. and New York. What is so horrible about that. Good riddance.

A few years ago I told this forum about the eleven cycles that effect the Earth. Beginning with the Galaxy.

What the hell is so difficult to understand. Yes, man-kind has an affect on the atmosphere. However, it is so small compared to all the natural factors, that to blame humans is very one sided to the point of laughability.
