Intersting jobs sucky, but interesting. I can't believe they actually exist lol.

 

I answered toll free numbers. Was not too bad, except for one account. It was for do-it-yourself taxidermy videos.....they sent us the videos to watch..I refused. My co-workers (Natives of Mississippi) popped themselves some microwave popcorn and went into the conference room and actually watched them.

 

I've had lots of jobs that I thought were stupid but none that were truly pointless.

Cleaning the goo out of the Movie Theater butter machine, when I was an Usher. I was probably 17-18. Every time I smell that slimy crap I almost puke. I hated cleaning that thing because I had to hold my breath, so I cleaned it really fast. So I got stuck with it until I went back to school. (I actually made more money doing that than working in a factory, go figure)

 

Paper round for the people to lazy to get it them selfs!

Straight out of Marine boot camp I was sent to a "holding company" (a place to put you while you wait for your school to open up). The first day, I driven out to a huge rock pile. We loaded those rocks up, drove across base, then unloaded the rocks. After lunch, we moved the rocks back to their original location.

The next day, though, I was rescued and given one of the best jobs I ever had.

 

The most stupid one I had was as an envelope stuffer at a mailing factory. It was through an agency and was so horrendously dull people would last an average of less than half a day before giving up.

At lunchtime on the 2nd day I was made supervisor because I was the longest standing member of staff (other than "managers" of course who did sweet f.a.)

 

Yeah, that was 16-17 years ago. I went Army, got hurt, worked corporate America, hated it, started my own construction company, got drafted by my Ex-wife to set up her health care company, did that until she took the kids, receivables and three months of payroll when she left, now I write books and work on restarting a business the bitch can't get her hands on.

And yes, it was a fun job but added some horrific food hang ups to my persona. Some people were grossed out by the slime inside the soft drink fountain but I cleaned those everyday in bleach with no problem, but that fucking nasty butter machine ranked right up there with the week old hot dogs kept fresh with a water spray bottle, and sneezed on nachos. There is a reason I only eat FRESH popcorn (with no 'butter'), and only when coming out of the hopper too

 

My two worst jobs have been here in NC. I worked at a card/magazine/clothing store. In the card shop, we weren't allowed to sit down even if we worked a 12 hour shift and didn't have any customers...but we had someone who would tattle on us to the owners if we did.

For Christmas, they rehired a former employee who wouldn't work with the man owner who ran the clothing store so they moved me over there. I scared him on purpose once...he was in the office and I was waiting outside so when he opened the door to leave, I acted like I was surprised and made a move towards him, but I actually did that to startle him and he jumped!!! He had heart problems. I ended up walking out on that job because one day he unexpectedly towered over me and got in my face to chew me out in front of all the employees and customers who were in the store. I came SOOOOO close to punching him in the face, but didn't want to be arrested for assault. Such an asshole!

 

Stocking shoes... Yup that fucking sucked.

Yah both of those sound like they need to be investigated by labor rights and such. When you work full time you to be given a 1 hr lunch and 3 15 min breaks.

 

As a teenager I did do a lot of part-time work...I had one job, it was putting the plstic sppon into yoghurt containers. The containers went by ona conveyor belt and i had to place the spoon ina small tray beside the yoghurt.
To my lasting shame, and i blame the guy that taught me the job....we licked every 20th spoon.

 

Guarding a top secret installation. One four hour shift every other day and every other weekend off.
